I have encountered some extremist religious nutjobs who even believe it is ok to mock certain health conditions.

I've yet to see WP members from Christian, Jewish or Islamic communities make sarcastic posts or create intolerant threads to laugh at atheists, mock their beliefs or clothing, or call them insane and irrational.

It's OK to say "I'm an atheist and I don't believe in XYZ, so I left the church". It's OK to say "I have different beliefs".

It's not OK to mock people, call them names, crack jokes, and demonstrate intolerance for entire groups of people to assuage one's traumatic past.

It's my understanding that mocking others for their beliefs is against the rules.

In my posts in this thread, I was referring to groups who spend so much time focusing on gay issues when they could be doing positive things instead. I was not talking about ALL religious groups.

With that being said, I still don’t believe that religion or religious texts should be above criticism although I would not approve of discrimination in areas like employment.

You know much about electrical wiring? The charger with mine runs on a combination of methane and nuclear energy. You eat the magical uranium enriched baked beans for breakfast each morning and they are converted into power for your transmitter.
