Is it true a lot of Americans are fleeing the country?

Australia’s Sky News seems to parrot almost everything said on America’s Fox News, but in Australian accents. Seriously. When I hear Sky News clips they’re almost word for word the same garbage as Fox News, so, IMO they’re quite a right wing conservative news source - not a balanced one.

So, you aren't aware of how many left-wing advocates/politicians are participants of the Sky News channel?
Is this right?

Never heard any. Also didn't seek any out - the ones I've heard just play in the Facebook watch queue automatically. From what I've heard, it seems they're very Fox News like and my guess is they have left wing political guests just the same as Fox News does.

There are at least 5 leftie regulars on Sky news. 8)
The Australian ABC has zero, zip, nada regular conservatives on their programs on the other hand.
Sky News is conservative overall, but there are good left-wing opinions also.
I wouldn't compare Fox with Sky. 8)

One of the strange things the Right wing always claim here in Oz is how the media is left biased (particularly the ABC) yet thousands of research studies show that media bias has no significant bearing on voter preference. So why do they keep harping on about something that has much to do about nothing?

Well, you can't carry a gun, but Australia doesn't have the degree of social issues that America has.
I understand that Australia is one of the preferred countries.
Australia sounds awesome, but I doubt the NRA fanclub would appreciate the lack of guns...which would make it preferable to those who want to move away from that type of individual.

We had a the Port Arthur massacre in Tasmania in 1996 which resulted in almost all high powered weapons being confiscated by the then conservative prime minister John Howard. Despite the backlash he initiated the "gun buyback" scheme after which guns purchased by the government were crushed in an industrial machine.

The resulting furore resulted in the emergence of far right lobby parties like the "Shooters" party.

When I was a kid, for a while we'd visit Canada every year during the summer. I always enjoyed the ferry ride to Victoria - - except for the time our dog s**t all over the inside of the camper during the ride back.

Well it seems to me that there is a lot of unrest in the US and a lot of fighting between the democrats and republicans. Would the US just be happier if the blue states and the red states just separated completely, into their own nations?

Here's another sad story of couples and families unable to unite across the border.

It was written in July, so I hope the restrictions for these people with these circumstances have changed by now.

Yes - there have been changes.. covered in the link I posted. Cases like these would fall under exemptions for "Compassionate entry" today.

Some may not be happy with the Democrats in government and may consider it an acceptable compromise.
A reasonable supposition, but since it is early days, I have nothing to back that up.

There are predictions of tax rises, and if this does happen, it may be another incentive for some to move.
Early days.
Time will tell.

Yeah, especially since I climbed into the camper in the darkness of the parking area of the ferry. Got poop all over my shoes.

There are plenty of countries divided by one reason or another, but they never split apart.

I guess it depends on where guns rank on their priority list. 8) At the very least, those who have done increasingly stupid things in protest of even the idea of the most basic of gun laws are highly unlikely to leave the US anytime soon no matter how much they grumble, because clearly, guns are more important to them than most other things.

There are two aspects to the "claim"
1. For starters there is a lack of evidence of media bias
https://academic.oup.com/joc/article-ab ... m=fulltext

And ergo there is lack of evidence that media will change voter preference
https://voxeu.org/article/does-mass-med ... vidence-us

The issue isn't that voters don't read the news (they do) but that there's a scarcity of solid evidence to back up the spurious claims of Scomo and associates (Abbott and others) that government broadcasters are biased and influence voters.

that would be handy for sure if it were doable, but at best it is voting districts here which are in all sorts of contorted gerrymandered shapes which all too often means we are in a situation where neighbors are in a cold war with one another. we have modern-day puritanical quasi-calvinist social darwinists, up against progressive "counter culture" types, and the two just don't grok one another. one group wants us to live as though it was 1890, "every man for himself," and the other group is communitarian, "it takes a village." no way will those two get along. but the creator in his infinite wisdom has seen fit that we two are forced into physical proximity at least.
