Yeah, I can hear it now, "Sorry we murdered your kids.  Non mea culpa.  Go in peace and have a nice day!"
Uh, I didn’t say it would make up for it but it’s a step forward in getting restitution for the families.  Would you be happier if he didn’t show his face?  He should have to meet the families face to face and address their grievances.
Would each family then receive 30 pieces of silver?
What does Judas payment have anything to do with it? [...]
Judas payment ... due compensation ... hush money ... call it whatever you want.
Whatever you call it ,the living could use it to make their life better.  Conditions on most reservations are deplorable.  The money would go along way to making that better for the people alive now.
I will believe it only if I see it.  As a case in point, the RCC has yet to compensate the descendants of the Native Americans that were enslaved by Junípero Serra y Ferrer O.F.M.

We can only hope.
This is a start for some of the victims of past abuse.

Ironically no one is actually sure who's responsible for any of these incidents at this point so perhaps the assumptions that it was definitely indigenous people should be dialed back no matter what direction they're being made from.

Could be an act of God, IMO.

If it's organized no one's invited me to any of these parties.. but then again, it's still covidtimes and large gatherings are still illegal, soooo.. they're probably small private parties with masks, social distancing, and contact forms.

I agree that we don’t know who is responsible. One of the articles mentioned the fire department thought Molotov cocktails were used and another article mentions lighter fluid.
A statement from two of the tribes.

So now they think the Russians did it? :?

I suppose it's not too far fetched.. a lot of Ukrainians on the prairies.

Part of me certainly says, like don't burn stuff down...but another part of me is like 'yeah burn those churches down yeah' I guess it is a bit of an internal conflict.

This is the sort of blasphemy that might cause more churches to spontaneously combust:

It doesn’t say anything about Russians.
Just Tribes speaking out that they would prefer people not speculate or set fires.
It’s the local fire departments that are staffed by Natives that would respond.Doesn’t seem right that they would need to risk their life.
https://indigenousfiresafety.ca/about/afac-apac/
It’s not right that the choice to destroy the structures was made a by a few instead of the whole Tribal body.
Mentioned in this article and the worry that one of the fires might spread to some homes.

"Grey nuns"? They didn't dress very differently from the KKK further south...

Unfortunately to many, religion has often cloaked many evils. The more they dress up in funny uniforms, the more likely they are to be involved in abominable activities....
