Whatever, you're free to have your own opinion, I'm just saying the people who are responsible for creating a safe environment for the kids have to be very careful. It's best to err on the side of caution than to take a chance with a kids future, since it would be the group's responsibility if anything goes wrong. It sounds like the parents didn't have a say in the decision either. If some parents are okay with letting this woman be a role model for their kids, fine, but you can't just assume that all parents would.

I think there is a real ethical dilemma here.
a) How long ago does a adult film star have to put behind their past before they are deemed acceptable to interact with school kids? Is there a time frame or do they forever forgo that privilege??
b) what behavior or conduct is considered sufficient to tarnish the reputation of a person such they can never be given positions of responsibility with kids.

I think those who condemn Sasha Grey should also consider that Mitt Romney (your next president) was a homophobe who assaulted a homosexual student in highschool causing life long problems for that individual leading to his suicide. I know which person I would trust less with my kid.

a) Some kind of display of redemption would be nice. But every interview I have seen with Sasha Grey has her promoting the porn industry, saying she has no regrets (those videos were taken during her porn years, maybe there is something more recent?)
Is a year out of the porn industry long enough for you? Two years? I don't think there is a time limit, but to dismiss her porn career as something in the past would be somewhat invalid, since she is still a young adult and there is no clear indication that she will not go back.
I'm sorry, but this woman just screams to me bad role model. Maybe she will change, but I haven't seen any indication of it yet.

Am I honestly alone here? I think the problem is that this thread is attracting mostly males... Maybe women would have a different view. It's easy for a woman to go around making money off of sex, but it is in no way honorable.

b) Not my president :P not from USA.

Really depends on the age of the kids. If she was reading to lower primary aged kids I honestly don't see the harm. For obvious reasons she would be an inappropriate role model for teenagers.

I wouldn't really care about a former porn star speaking at a school if my children were attending but I can't stand Sasha Grey and don't know what possessed her to even want to do public speaking.

Let's just say I'd be more outraged over Sasha Grey's presence than the fact it was a former porn star. A crappy no talent actor who get's by on nothing but her "sex appeal". Don't know why people care so much about her, she's not a good actor and she's about as vapid as they come. How is she in anyway a positive role model, she's not even cool or eccentric like Misty Mundae (another pornstar that appeared in several tv shows during the late 90s and early 2000s). She's not smart either.

FIRST OFF, Sasha Grey is a FORMER porn star.

SECOND OFF! Why the hell does it even matter? So she had sex on camera? Everybody has sex and they have since the dawn of time so why is it a big deal if it just happened to be on camera?

Third! Again why does it matter? It's not like she is telling the kids about her former career or teaching them the mating calls of a hyena.

f*****g people need to grow up.

Now, I'm interested in that hyena mating call thing!

Do you mind stating your opinion without attacking others?

I'm not offended if someone has another opinion, but when someone attacks me for having a different view, then it offends me.

It would take the average 8-9 yr old 10 seconds to search "Sasha Grey" on their i-phone and they would know exactly who it is who's reading to them. At that point it's irrelevant if she is talking about Hyenas mating, Barney the dinosaur or Jack and the beanstalk.

Having said that I think it's fine for her to read to pre-schoolers and lower primary kids.

I don't see you being mentioned by name, so you must have assumed that it was you being referred to as needing to grow up. Hmm...

^^ Exactly. It was a general outburst of frustration directed at no-one specifically.
