Sigh....
I should start a collection of all the times you've asked the mods to lock a thread that's not to your liking. You forgot something this time, though: Usually you ask to have your account closed. It begs the question of why you come to this forum while in a foul mood and read threads you know from experience will set you off, especially knowing that dreadful Raptor is on the prowl. Something to ponder...

Given the confirmation of Trump as president on less of the popular vote than his opponent perhaps America should stop touting itself as the guardian of democracy.

America is a federal constitutional republic, and always has been, thank goodness. Democracy is a terrible form of government.

Yes our conservatives in Australia have said similar things about relying on a popular vote.

Dear Meistersinger and Raptor, relax and take a chill pill: its nearly Christmas let's call a truce!

Keep to the topic please folks. This isn't the Jerry Springer show - let's show the NTs we can have a mature discussion about sensitive topics without cheap potshots...

It's telling that the two non-American leftist commentators quoted only my second sentence and ignored my first sentence.

Wannabe tyrants hate decentralized constitutional republics because they are hard to overthrow. Wannabe tyrants love "democracy" because it's easy to convert into dictatorship: 50% plus one, and you're done.

(There are ways to undermine and overthrow a constitutional republic over the long term, but that's a topic for another thread.)

The current president took away the working class healthcare and forced them to use an abysmal high cost plan named after him. Isn't that what should be called fascist?

To see democracy as akin to dictatorship shows how intellectually and politically misinformed you are.

That's your definition of the word fascist? I don't think that word means what you think it means.

I was asking a question regarding definition, not making a statement.

I have a prediction. The Putin hacking incident will no longer be news and will just fade away, now that the electoral college voting has concluded. There might be blurbs here and there, but I'm expecting that Obama, the CIA and FBI aren't going to have much if anything more to say about it. If they ever really had anything to say about it to begin with outside of what was funneled through NBC.
