I had a neighbor in a nearby work office who had a poster on his door with that (paraphrased) statement with an image of Chief Seattle
If it was penned by Ted Perry then its a source error for the poster

many words have been put into the great man's mouth, more so than many other great men. he was a conveniently plausible after-the-fact mouthpiece for many left-wing types. but it made good copy.

Kind of reminds me when it used to hip to wear Che Guevera t-shirts. I think the beatles ridiculed the wannabee beatniks of the 60s in their song "Revolution"

no, WHEN, back in the 60s and 70s. I was saying i'd like to hop into the WABAC machine and go back there for a spell. the where would be somewhere on the west coast.
