Enemy of the people? Nah, that'd once again be Trump's "fine" people who attack the fourth estate and issue repeated death threats to reporters and news organizations.

BOSTON GLOBE RECEIVES SERIOUS THREAT FOLLOWING ANTI-TRUMP EDITORIAL

The Boston Globe is dealing with a serious threat following its publication of an anti-Trump editorial, according to a new report.

Earlier this week, the Boston Globe published an editorial criticizing President Donald Trump’s frequent criticisms of the press and his contention that the media is “enemy of the people.” The scathing editorial compared Trump’s tactics to those employed by Russian president Vladimir Putin and Turkey president Recep Tayyip Erdogan to undermine a free press.

“The greatness of America is dependent on the role of a free press to speak the truth to the powerful,” the Globe wrote. “To label the press ‘the enemy of the people’ is as un-American as it is dangerous to the civic compact we have shared for more than two centuries.”

Following the editorial’s publication this week, the Boston Globe on Thursday received “several threats” that both local and federal law enforcement officials consider serious, according to Axios. The nature of the threats was not revealed. Local police, however, have increased their presence at the Boston Globe’s offices.

The Boston Globe confirmed the threat in a statement to Axios. The publication’s spokeswoman said that the Boston Globe has increased security and suggested that the President’s attacks against the press make this and other threats against the media even more concerning.

“Journalistic outlets have had threats throughout time but it’s the president’s rhetoric that gives us the most concern,” the spokeswoman wrote.

BOSTON GLOBE STEPS UP SECURITY DUE TO THREATS IN WAKE OF TRUMP TWEET

BOSTON (WHDH) - There is an increased police presence at The Boston Globe’s headquarters after threats were made against the newspaper Thursday in wake of a tweet that was sent out by President Trump, officials said.

While Boston police say they do not believe the threats were “super serious,” the Federal Bureau of Investigation is conducting an investigation.

In a campaign spearheaded by the Globe, newspapers across the United States have opted to push back against Trump’s attacks on “fake news” with a coordinated series of editorials speaking up for a free and vigorous press. An estimated 350 newspapers participated.

Trump responded to the campaign Thursday morning, singling out the Globe on Twitter.

A resolution offered later in the day by Democratic Sen. Brian Schatz, of Hawaii, drew on the words of Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and President Ronald Reagan, among others, to champion the role of the free press, which it said is “integral to the democratic foundations of the United States.”

MAN, 62, ACCUSED OF HATE CRIME AFTER PUNCHING BOY, 14, IN FACE AT REDLANDS DEL TACO

A 62-year-old man was charged with a misdemeanor hate crime, making criminal threats and inflicting injury on a child Thursday, Aug. 16, after police say he repeatedly punched a 14-year-old in the face two days earlier at a Del Taco in Redlands.

“Prior to the assault, the suspect called the victim a ‘Mexican’ and threatened him,” said Carl Baker, spokesman for the Redlands Police Department. “The juvenile and other witnesses said the suspect made a threat to kill the juvenile before punching him several times in the face.”

The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office filed the charges, court records show, against Larry Young, 62, on Thursday in San Bernardino Superior Court. The hate crime and criminal threats charges are misdemeanors, records indicate, but inflicting injury on a child is a felony.

The attack took place around 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, at the Del Taco at 602 E. Redlands Blvd., officials said. It is unclear why the man, who police say is a transient, allegedly punched the boy.

Arriving officers found Larry Young, 62, outside and arrested him on suspicion of inflicting injury on a child and a hate crime, police said. He was booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga in lieu of $50,000 bail.

The boy complained of pain to his jaw. Authorities called his mother who took him to the hospital.

A 12-year-old transgender student in a small Oklahoma town near the Texas border was targeted in an inflammatory social media post by the parents of a classmate, leading to violent threats and driving officials to close the school for two days.

It all started on Facebook. Jamie Crenshaw, whose children attend public schools in the town, Achille, complained in a private Facebook group for students’ parents that the transgender girl, Maddie, was using a bathroom for girls.

So, evidently Trump supporters like harassing and beating up 12 and 14 year olds now... weird, disturbing, vile, and scary.

White supremacists and those on the right who hold similar views or are apologists for them have zero self-esteem so they take it out on everyone else, most notably minorities since minorities aren't in a position to easily protect themselves in this country - especially under Trump and his goons.

So it's cowardice. And children are hurt and die because other children, and adults, are cowards, would rather destroy than learn.

So-so. Glad to see you here. I grieve for my country and being Aspie find it hard to shake that off. Also am grieving over the horrendous Catholic church scandal.

I'm doing little things to make my home nice, as I can afford them, and some days it feels like I'm just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. But I know if I push through, I'll feel better for awhile at least.

Well, nations are a lot like family members. We wish they would help us, but they see too often reasons to do otherwise. Religions used to rule the world with their connections to the seat warmers. They seem to have forgotten all the schisms that have put them in the real-estate business. Too bad that nations and churches are where they are precisely because of the outspoken independence of their parishioners.

Improving one's home is probably the best thing one can do without dreading the outcome. After all, only we know what we are adding to all the props and decorations in our lives. Splurge a little and rearrange some, too. Funny how things look differently when we just reimagine our homes.

Yes, my mother died in January despite my work for four years to delay the inevitable. We had some great times, some angry times and a lot of simple caring times. My move about 70 miles north of her house was sheer luck given how spartan housing options are in Utah. It is one of the newest complexes around, and accepts developmental disorders as qualifiers for tenancy. It took me until today to get my life rolling again.

It's encouraging to hear that there are more neighborhoods and communities where developmental disabilities help to rule you in rather than out.

And when I think that some things are scarce in my area (no good meetups and I'm long past being willing to start stuff like that myself) I'll think of you and a few other folks here and remind myself that I'm not alone in dealing with that

Strangely, despite having been the state with the highest rate of autism some years ago (and it remains among the top states), social and support groups are almost entirely comprised of parents and/or young children. Our state's families apparently see little need to offer such groups to those of us older than 18 years of age, and include us in the dialogue.

Well, there is a project with which I am involved that should change those facts and soon. I will disclose when I can.

We crash landed in a small community of just 18,000 residents who produce a mysterious annual event to celebrate ... the peach on Sept. 1. It is also a favored filming location for Hallmark Channel movies as it has many gorgeously restored late-Victorian houses nearby.
