Dude, your issues with her are yours. She performed a piece of political theater and is getting good results. You don't have to watch.

She's a child sticking up for her generation and their future. It's not some kind of trick which needs unravelling, she is a protester and people like her message. She's not trying to take credit for the science, people are responding to her determination with empathy and starting to listen.

Follow the money. Just follow the money.

Greta’s very corporate children’s crusade
Behind the schoolgirl climate warrior lies a shadowy cabal of lobbyists, investors and energy companies seeking to profit from a green bonanza

Greta Thunberg is just an ordinary 16-year-old Swedish schoolgirl whose fiery visions have convinced the parliaments of Britain and Ireland to declare a “climate emergency”. Greta’s parents, actor Svante Thunberg and opera singer Malena Ernman, are just an ordinary pair of parent-managers who want to save the planet. Query their motives, and you risk being accused of “climate denial”, or of bullying a vulnerable child with Asperger’s. But the Greta phenomenon has also involved green lobbyists, PR hustlers, eco-academics, and a think-tank founded by a wealthy ex-minister in Sweden’s Social Democratic government with links to the country’s energy companies.

Query their motives and you deserve to be accused of far worse.

Miss Thunberg's parents saw their daughter stepping out to do something out of the house, that involved interacting with her peers, and developing the ability to handle situations we generally find uncomfortable. I'd give my right arm for an opportunity like that for my son.

"The medium is the message" - Marshall McLuhan
All the fuss about Greta and her life seems to be just a desperate attempt to ignore her service to us. She is, after all, recommending that we respond wisely, but with the sense of urgency that a house fire conveys. Panic calmly.

I think it's a good thing that she's decided to pour her efforts into her cause like this. Just so she doesn't 'speak for all autistics'. I'm not saying she's doing that, but I do not want any one person representing me as an autistic.

Just heard clips of her speech today at the UN. She got tremendous applause. Would be nice if she also got some action. I thought she sounded great.

Dude, just because Miss. Thunberg stepped forward to take the mic doesn't mean anyone's hiding behind her.

Well, not only is the above an insult to children, who are far smarter than you, Miller and most everyone else in this thread is giving them credit for, it also ignores the fact that said adults (the ones unfortunately in charge) can hardly be called "functioning" and "well adjusted"...in no small part due to their extreme corruption

It's all noise, until someone does something to curtail population growth.

Billions of people will be added to the planet in the next 50 years.

Greta has said that she finds personal criticism funny - it is an admission that nothing else is wrong with her message, so people can only complain about the messenger. She began by trying to deal with her depression, and it turned out to be a new treatment that works for thousands of other kids. Who would put off trying to feel better until they are older? Especially as a teen?

I heard her speech on the news yesterday or so, and I applauded. Her appeal was so heartfelt and emotional yet true, she was saying what I have thought most of my life. It's all true, this is the one point in time where we can still save the endangered species of this world and put a break on climate change.

Her message aside, I didn't know she was an aspie as this title says. Not only is that cool, it also is living proof that we aren't emotionless robots. Greta Thunberg is awesome!

Haven't seen Miss Thunberg's UN speech (yet), but I love the gif of President Trump arriving at the UN while Greta is in the background, staring holes in the back of his head. I'm also seeing a lot of positive comparisons between her and Lyanna Mormont of Game of Thrones fame on Twitter.
