Good point.

Further shows the criminality of your politicians, behaving the way they do, serving their corporate & military industrial complex masters instead of the people.

$738B in defence spending last year. Like WTF? That’s where your social assistance money literally went up in smoke.

Well, some us us consider having healthcare to be a right, not a privilege.
And yes, poor people do have bills to pay, which is why they too often don't have enough left over for medical care.
I thought that the right was supposed to be so pro-life. Being pro-life means more than just caring about a person's welfare before they're born and after they die, but not in between.
It has absolutely nothing to do with morality to try getting by without help. If you need help, there isn't anything immoral about it.
Trust me, the needy lose their hair and have heart conditions due to stress as much or more than anyone else.

But admittedly you are a starving artist. How will they go about getting blood from a stone? If you don't have the income to cover it, who will pay your share of the 'free healthcare?'

Also, what if doctors don't want to deal with the increase in workload that universal healthcare would bring? Seems to me I heard you have 2 choices from NHS-wait or pay out of pocket. So, if I want free care, I have to wait because of the volume created by universal healthcare. Or, I have to pony up out of pocket to be seen promptly if I don't wish to wait, so that means I'm still paying for healthcare that essentially useless (delayed care is denied care, just like delayed justice is denied justice) and paying for private care.

I'll keep my more expensive healthcare coverage and still pay less in the long run.

My healthcare comes from the same place as every other poor persons.
Waiting for a doctor is still better than not having one.
I have no problem with people keeping their own insurance. My problem is with those who want to take medical coverage from the rest of us because they think we're scamming the system.

We don’t have to wait for anything urgent. Just go to an ER and be seen in order of the most to least urgent patient. If it’s a truly time sensitive medical emergency, people are flown my helicopter and taken into emergency surgery immediately. And then the bill is often $0.00. (Although there are some standard fees for ambulance rides like $100-150 something like that.)

People wait for things like hip & knee replacement surgery. We could use improvement in surgery wait times, for sure, but at least people can access the care they need.

And it doesn’t matter if a starving artist pays as low as nothing into our provincial medical plan. There are enough taxpayers all paying in the same amount each, regardless of income, to cover everyone here. Also, ours may have been the only province to charge a medical premium at all - which just got scrapped. So now we pay no medical specific regular fees at all - the same services will still be delivered but paid for from other tax revenue sources. We still all pay for it in the end, though.

Looked it up and the premiums were based on income and were a maximum of $75/mo for a single person paying the full I unsubsidized premium. But now that tax is cancelled and no one has to pay it anymore and we can still go to a clinic or hospital whenever we need to just the same as always.

My problem is with people that are of the mentality that they think others have to go without in order for them to have decent medical care. Reality is that there’s MORE than enough money spent on healthcare in the USA to provide e v e r y o n e with decent healthcare. The problem is that there are so many layers of exorbitant profits in your insurance industry that you get a terribly expensive system and very bad value for money spent.

People with good medical coverage in the USA should be demanding that everyone be given similar car because there’s already enough money changing hands to do it.. someone just has to have the balls to tell the insurance industry to f**k off and then spend the liberated funds on patient care.

Does this mean all conservatives are criminals, or that conservatism should be criminalized?

If Obamacare had worked the way it was supposed to have initially, probably most everyone would be happy with their healthcare coverage.

I think it should have been given more time to work out all the bugs before it was implemented.

If it's decided to go to universal health care, I don't want it to be rushed through and seriously flawed.

It didn't though.

I used to work for ACHA/Medicaid and this is a direct quote from a doctor who didn't renew his Medicaid participation:
" Your patients are the most time consuming, the least grateful. They want the most amount of attention for the least amount of money. They are the nastiest individuals who expect the kindest treatment. It's just not worth it. "

This is what US doctors do when you back them into this corner. They leave. Why should they put up with it? Then all you have are patients with cards that say they have insurance and no doctors want to see them. As long as the US is a Capitalist country, you will never have socialized healthcare. You may have social programs like Medicaid, where doctors agree to take 100 patients just so they can say they are doing their part. But as long as they possess the right to say 'No,' you will never make it work. Universal coverage is only part of it... you have to have doctors willing to be abused. Many have left countries to come to the US, they've seen what medicine looks like in those countries they've left behind. Good luck convincing them to go back to the farm once they've seen Paris.

^A massive part of the problem is the culture of greed amongst American medical doctors. They’re all aiming for $400K/yr+ instead of aiming to provide quality care to their patients in exchange for fair compensation & a very comfortable life. They (almost) all want to get filthy rich & are willing to watch people die rather than help them to do it. Disgusting, IMO.

That's gone out of fashion in the US, since the traveling doctors who took chickens as payment. And that is the culture of the US, we have never lied about that. People should be cursing their parents if they don't like it, not the country. We are simply doing what we have always done.

They are not interested in 'fair' compensation. They have student loan debts to pay. They are interested in the most amount of money to live well and pay off student loan debt. Now, I'm anticipating that you'll go off the rails on how education should be free. Well, it's not here.

They could repay their student loans and live a very good life on $250k/yr instead of $400k. It would also allow them to better uphold the oath they swore to do no harm.
