Even if Floyd hadn't died, he was grievously mistreated and abused by cops. It's blatantly clear on the video and from eye-witness testimony. Rodney King didn't die. He viciously was beaten, yet similar riots took place as a result. Very little seems to have changed from 1992, and police continue to use unnecessary and disproportionate force against black people, even when they are unarmed, innocent, or complying with arrest.

The issue is inequality, racism, and aggression whether or not the person succumbs to their injuries. No person should die during arrest, especially when they are pleading for help and saying they cannot breathe. No person should be beaten, or lynched, or have a cop's knee in the back of their neck. Never.

Georgia deploys National Guard troops to counter violent protests in Atlanta

Quote:
Gov. Brian Kemp activated as many as 500 Georgia National Guard troops early Saturday to immediately reinforce law enforcement officials struggling to contain violent protests that swept through downtown Atlanta and Buckhead.

Kemp issued the order as police swarmed the Lenox Square Mall, where scattered looting was reported at stores around the busy commercial area

The troops were to immediately deploy to flash points around Atlanta, and the first contingent of roughly 100 soldiers arrived at the Lenox area just after midnight. Kemp has authorized the troops to make arrests if necessary.

The Buckhead neighborhood in Atlanta is a very rich area with diplomatic missions and exclusive boutiques.

According to Mahmoud He said authorities have asked him not to release the video.

Looks like death by cop....the riots started because the initially the officers were stood down but still on the payroll. Past history suggests police usually get quietly transferred and the prospect of another psychopathic cop being protected precipitated the outrage.

When the riots started the police department moved quickly to prosecute but by then it was too late.

The protests started due to that, the rioters do t give a s**t abiut Floyd. They just see this as a chance to be violent and steal stuff.

My friend lives there and works nights. I haven’t heard from him tonight.:/
They should deploy thousands of national guards. Lock the cities down day and night until people stop.

What precipitated the riots and what's maintaining it are two different things. Many of the rioters arrested on video are white and I assume they probably fit your description of not caring about Floyd. For the black protesters its more personal as they could be the next Floyd.

The rioters showed up to take advantage of the protest not for justice for Floyd.
Slot of black life matters and antifa are white. Plenty of whites marched with mlk.
Rioters are black and white. Stop trying to make this about race.

Well at this point people may not stop until the cops stop murdering people and getting away with it. LIke we already have the highest incarceration rate, and of late I would not be surprised if we had the most civilians killed by cops per capita. Like here is a message to the cops...STOP MURDERING PEOPLE! then maybe people won't want to burn down the police station.

Minnesota CV rates are going to go through the roof because all these people so close by each other.

Proably, but cops who commit murders like this should be held accountable we should end the days were cops get a slap on the wrist for the murders they commit.

It's possible the medical examiner is right.

The American police system began in an effort to control slaves / black people with systemic racism and corruption.

"The Democratic Party: Keeping Black People Down for 200 Years"

Minneapolis:
Democrat governor
Democrat Secretary of State
Democrat State Auditor
Democrat Sr US Senator
Democrat Jr US Senator
Democrat US Reps 5 / Republicans 3
Democrat Mayor
Democrat Attorney General
Democrat Police Chief
2016 Presidential Elections - Voted Democrat

That political alignment created the precipitating conditions, mainly for the looting and local violence. Within 48 hours, however, we have seen the nationwide activation of well-funded and well-organized Lefto-Fascist Antifa terrorist cells. That's where the real violence is coming from now.

LAPD Declares Unlawful Assembly As Protesters, Police Clash Downtown; Looting Reported
Quote:
Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department clashed with protesters in downtown Los Angeles Friday night as they demonstrated against the death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis officer.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m., LAPD declared an unlawful assembly throughout downtown Los Angeles after what it said were “repeated acts of violence and property damage.”

@LAPDHQ
We have declared an unlawful assembly throughout Downtown LA.
From the 10 Fwy to the 101 & the 110 Fwy to Alameda—This is being made following repeated acts of violence & property damage. Residents should stay inside—Business should close—Those on the street are to leave the area

About an hour after LAPD declared the unlawful assembly, those who remained downtown began looting businesses — including a liquor store, a Starbucks and the 6th Street Market — and were seen on video carrying out furniture and other items from the shops.

The protest began at about 5 p.m. as protesters gathered outside of City Hall for the third night in a row to demonstrate against police brutality. The protesters then marched south on Spring Street before heading north on Figueroa Street.

Less than two hours later, the tone of the protests shifted as police detained a number of demonstrators near the intersection of Fifth and Olive streets, though it was not immediately known if they were under arrest. One officer was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries following the clash.

One group of protesters and police again clashed shortly before 8 p.m. as groups of people blocked both sides of the 110 Freeway at Wilshire where officers again detained an unknown number of demonstrators who failed to comply with orders to disperse.

The group then seemed to splinter into three different groups of demonstrators — one near the 110 Freeway, another near Hope and Seventh and another at Grand and Seventh.

Another group of protesters found their way onto the 110 Freeway at Fifth, but police were able to clear the freeway with the use of tear gas and bean bag rounds shortly before 9 p.m.

The group of protesters gathered near Grand and Seventh allegedly threw bottles full of urine and fecal matter at a line of police. Officers responded by pushing demonstrators back to Grand and Eighth, urging them to disperse. It was unclear if any of these protesters were detained.

And another officer was injured and taken to the hospital with unknown injuries after a skirmish with the group of protesters located near Hope and Seventh.

A third police officer was injured Friday night, but the source of his injuries and condition were unknown.

Earlier Friday, the LAPD was placed on tactical alert as a precaution in response to the third-straight day of protests against police brutality. The previous two days of demonstrations were largely peaceful.
