It was a fun little fluff news distraction.

Depp 1st place awarded $15 million.
Heard 2nd place awarded $2 million.

Now it's time for appeals etc.

Appeals will be later.  Now is the time for journalistic second-guessing, and the emotional reactions from families, fans and friends of both parties.

Based on a brief search looks like Heard's net worth is $2.5 million and Depp's is $150 million.

Ms. Heard is whining about her stifled free speech rights, but what she does not seem to understand is that the jury unanimously determined that she had lied in her claims and during her testimony.

Free speech is still intact; lying about someone for financial gain (or just to "Win the Breakup") is simply wrong.

According to that twitter link, a fine source for legal facts:

#JohnnyDepp ran the table on his defamation suit. Jury awards $10M in compensatory damages, $5M in punitive damages. Punitive capped by statute at $350K. @LawCrimeNetwork pic.twitter.com/qtMoZ9gTzI

So $5m of the $15m is capped at 350k by statute, the other $10m... might still be on her bill

I think only Depp's punitive damages are capped by state law. The rest awarded to him is for the full amount.

It seems Amber will still pay over 8 million.

The lying is really the crux of this thing. The official verdict should be Amber Heard guilty of lying and framing.
