I was looking in the Steam workshop for Black Mesa and saw a mod that replaced the Apache with the Chinese spy balloon. Yes, you can shoot it down.

US aircraft shoots down new airborne object over Canada

Quote:
Another unidentified object has been shot down over North American airspace, Canadian President Justin Trudeau has confirmed.

He said the latest object "violated Canadian airspace" and was shot down over Yukon in north west Canada.

Both Canadian and US aircraft were scrambled to track down the object which Trudeau says was taken out by a US F-22.

Trudeau says he gave the order and that he spoke with US President Joe Biden.

"Canadian forces will now recover and analyse the wreckage of the object," he wrote on Twitter.

He thanked the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) which earlier said it had been monitoring "a high-altitude airborne object" over northern Canada.

NORAD earlier told CNN it cannot discuss specifics related to these activities but confirmed military aircraft have been deployed.

It is not clear what the object is.

This story is just bizarre.

Was thinking of that too. Mysterious flying object...near the North Pole.

At least the Chinese waited until after December to pull this stunt!

I am sure Santa has enough problems these days...being hassled for being a suspected illegal alien, or for being a terrorist. Now he has to worry about getting shot at for being a suspected Chinese balloon!

U.S. FAA reopens Montana airspace shut for defense activities

Quote:
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said late Saturday it had reopened some airspace in Montana after it was briefly closed for undisclosed Defense Department activities.

The FAA had issued a notice temporarily barring flights in an area about 50 by 50 nautical miles around Havre, Montana, near the Canadian border and classifying the area as "national defense airspace."

The FAA said just before 8:30 p.m. ET the airspace had been reopened.

So the object is currently labeled a UFO?

Mainly that.

This third "object" is officially described as being "cylinder shaped", and it flew at 40 thousand feet (lower than the balloon they downed off Carolina, but about the same altitude as the thing they shot down off the north coast of Alaska. About "eight miles high".

No...

Cylinder shaped equals...gasp!...white flying Tic Tac!

https://youtu.be/Vpqffgak7To

Actually it could be an earth made cigar shaped zeppilin type remote controlled balloon. But they imply that its like the Alaska thing: too small to be both a balloon AND have a useful payload of spy equipment. So it must be heavier than air. So...heavier than air...small sized...no wings...cylinder shaped...
