Unwanted Visitors Found In Library Book Return

Quote:
DENVER

The Denver Public Library is dealing with a problem usually found in homes or hotels. They say a customer returned books infested with bedbugs.

The man who was one of the library's most avid users has now been both banned from the library and fined said Denver Public Library spokesperson, Celeste Jackson.

Library workers handling the books left in the drop box noticed the bugs first......

I believe this to be a bit unfair. If he was one of their most avid customers and just banning him? Maybe he was in a hotel with the books and it was an accident.

Also, why ban him completely? Shouldn´t he still be allowed to read the books inside the library without checking them out?

Prove there are NO bugs hitching a ride on him.

I hope that they don't ban him from the library all-together.

Anyone one could get infested with bed bugs (even in three star plus hotels - there have been incidences of picking bed bugs up and carrying them home with the Samsonite luggage!! !).

I live in a large city with the requisite poor area with its slumlord housing and where bed bugs are an unfortunate problem. Should anyone who lives in the poor areas postal code (zip code) be banned from the library? How about anyone in older clothes?

I hope that this patron is able to get rid of this problem affordably. I have heard of people needing to spend thousands of dollars and tonnes of time to finally be rid of bed bugs.

If this is a continuous problem (bugs in books), maybe they will need to fumigate the items before re-shelving. Egads.. this would be expensive!! ! And libraries already so underfunded.
