Found this story on Slashdot, http://tech.slashdot.org/story/09/12/22/0113247/The-Last-GM-Big-Block-V-8-Rolls-Off-the-Line

Apparently, there will be no more Large-Block Chevy V8s.

From now on we will have Politically Correct automobiles, like the Pelosi Two Seater.

I understand the desire for a better paradigm for transportation. I, myself am hoping to be able to purchase a Tesla Model S at some point.

However, the end of the Large Block Chevy marks the end of an era. One that included the ability of the owner to fix the engine himself. One where power and reliability were paramount. The large block still has applications where power and torque are required (eg. heavy hauling). To make matters worse, the Large Block Chevy is not being replaced by another newer design, it is disappearing entirely.
