For a second there, I thought from the title this was a thread about our (Lib Dem) position in the opinion polls... :)

I thought you hated living in Texas, Tim. Do you still want to move after reading that article?

Texas may have the best economy in the nation, but doesn't it also have one of the worst healthcare systems in the country, along with the highest rate of citizens without health insurance of all the other states?

While I appreciate that Texas has a kick-ass economy, I still hate how socially-backwards this state is.

I don't think many people will be going to the emergency room often when they can't even afford to go.

Even that costs a lot of money. I called 911 last year because I thought I was having heart problems. I got a bill for something like $300 for the paramedics to drive a few blocks and hook a little gadget up to my chest for a few minutes. I don't remember how much the bill for the hospital was (after another episode a few days later), but it was well into the hundreds of dollars, and that's after the insurance paid their bit.

I lived in Texas for five years. Really great place (DFW area). I miss it quite often.

I'm currently living in the DFW area (Arlington, to be exact). My only problem with this city is its lack of public transportation. :x
