As it turns out BJ Pikey, senior at North Peniscot highschool was all set to attend his senior trip. However, North Peniscot is not sensitive to the AS experience, and members of the school decided as a last attempt to block BJ from going altogether, to bully him into an Autistic meltdown, (which is what the family had hoped to avoid) and it looks like the bullies win again. I wonder , though if the provocateur who was emotionally abusing this young man will be allowed to go on the trip? In BJ's absence , will there be anyone who fun's themselves to death? Will there be sneaking out and alcohol poisoning? How would the presence of one mother be any more detrimental to the "fun" of the trip than any teachers who would be there? Shouldn't safety be the real concern ?No two kids are even close to the same ...not 24/7,some of us have trouble just getting through an 8 hour day in school which makes some evenings fun. Every community is different, you can drive 50 miles sometimes and be in a foreign land where people don't think anything like the way we think back home. I'm just sayin' "What would it have hurt to just let her go?"

That's horrible. Why do kids have to be so mean? I hate kids like that. No wonder I have an issue with young people.

If I was that kid's mother or lawyer I'd be getting a court order saying Pikey CAN go on the trip and FORCE the school to give accomodation. And if that does not work, SUE the bullies.

Sorry to see that this boy won't be going.

But I still have to wonder, did the boys bully him for no particular reason, or because his mother insisted so forcefully on going? This could have been a "mommy's boy, big baby" situation, which is the entire reason why the school doesn't want any parents going on the trip in the first place.

everyone on here is being made to believe that this student is not being allowed to go on his senior trip because of his autism. WRONG... the actual reason why this young man is not nor should be allowed to go on his senior trip is because he made death threats against certified teachers aide that has been working with him for years. This woman that he threatened loved and still loves him dearly and if anyone is tormenting him its not at the school...it has nothing to do with the school system or the faculty. Just because he is considered a special need student does no give him or anyone else the right to threaten someones life. It wasn't that he just threatened, he included details on how he was going to do so. So now that the aide has resigned and would not go for nothing at this point...mama wants to go, being that i was a senior in high school once i know that students have raised this money through different activities throughout the years. I heard from a very reliable source that the school gave the mother permission to go if she can afford to pay her own way... so in other words the school at first never denied her the ability to go it was she was having to provide her own funds to go and meet them down there. I don't see anything wrong with the sr. class of 2010 at NPHS rejecting to pay her way and give her a free trip. I have worked with special needs children and i understand all these special steps you have to take to assure that the student is not hurt or harmed and they are treated fairly but the school is also responsible for taking care of their aides and faculty to assure their safety. Since the mother and student are so disturbed by this my advice would be if you have the money to go then go no one can stop you from going to Florida but it is nobody elses responsibility to pay for your trip. Since mom wants to protect him, take him meaning you are in charge of him and enjoy your trip. Just so you know this situation is very touchy with me and i will be praying for you all.

Well lets just say that I have worked for PCSSD in the past and the threat that the student made was towards a family member of mine. I know all about autism the severe cases and the not so severe cases some are eligiable to attend a normal school and that is great and means that they have the ability to function and be included in a normal atmosphere however a death threat should not be taken lightly especially when there are details such as shooting in the head and bashing of the face in with a brick. To me that sounds like the student has taken the time to think about just how he wants to torture the teachers aide that loved him and i do mean loved him very much. Thanks to all of this drama she is having a nervous break down cause the student claimed to have loved her just as much cause she has helped him one on one for the past several years. That teachers aide is very very close and dear to me and she was the one that was going to accompanying this student on the senior trip to make sure that he was included and was going to have a wonderful time with his classmates and no worries, instead these threads have been started only focusing on his disability. I think that all the details as to the real reason as to why he ain't going to be able to attend was left out on purpose just so others would think he is being mistreated. I personally love children with special needs and i think that had the circumstances had been different he should have every right to attend. The PCSSD never tries to discriminate against children with special needs, their main focus is to provide and teach the children how to function normally based upon each and every individuals disability. God Bless each and everyone of and I'll keep praying for this situation and for it to have a peaceful ending.
