I remember this was the name of our holiday when I was a kid. Before we got our own flag, before the Constitution was repatriated, before we even had 20 million people, before Centennial year. On October 27, 1982 the name was changed, and the first Canada Day was July 1, 1983. Around that time some of the words to our national anthem were also revised.
