Koi and goldfish are both carp, but koi is of the genus cyprinus which was bred from common carp, and goldfish are of the genus carassius which was bred from Prussian carp.

This must be a fairly old goldfish. It's curious how they don't live long in captivity even when apparently well cared for. We must be doing something wrong.

It's all in the filtration. Goldfish produce way more nasties than other aquarium fish. Normally you buy a filter based on the size of the tank. Fine for other fish, completely inadequate if you are keeping goldfish. You wouldn't live long if you were swimming in your own poop all day, everyday. :D

I think his fishing career's over prematurely! All the other fishes will be small fry compared to that one. XD Xcept if he goes fishing bigger game.
