Well as long as the shop keeper gave the person the choice of "do I call the police or do I make you wear a silly outfit for six hours" it is perfectly OK with me. I think that making shoplifters have to wear outlandish outfits and then parading them in public might curb their criminal activity. I think that they should be made to wear bright orange boilersuits and made to pick up litter for a couple of weekends. give the park keeper a green boilersuit and the prison officer/policeman supervising the offenders a yellow boilersuit so nobody ever mistakes a normal parkkeeper for a criminal who is on litter removal duty.

That is hilarious! Crime really doesn't pay! He must have felt like an idiot!

Now that is creative thinking, instead of punnishing the kid and sending him through the juvinle justice system which turns kids like this into hardened criminals, he turned him into a fool for a few days. That works. However, I would not have put him in the costume, just him with a sign out front so everyone could see who he was.

Or they could just wear their police/park-keeper uniforms, which look nothing like an orange boiler suit anyway. People very rarely confuse Policemen for criminals due to their distinctive "Police" uniforms. (Even if a lot of them still ARE criminals.)

A brilliant story, the punishment was a good idea. It''s much better then jail time, he would become a thug if he went to jail.

>>> This actually happened. I worked for the City of Calgary in a make work program called City Links, (to help out under employed, and senior citizens as CL provided a service for them, so they can enjoy their homes a bit longer, if they're too old to afford maitenance (ie snow removal, grass cutting, fence repainting), Now the funny thing one of our bosses wore these overalls that were striped like Pajamas. Because he has a moustash, a "Jail over alls" (They were regular over alls just striped for some reason), and he was bald, and emanciated (if anything his small stature made him resemble a holocaust victim :_(.

He did look like a jail convict. An elderly woman freaked out demanding why were were using Jail convicts or something....

I think shop lifters should wear silly clown costumes, and be made to pick up trash....But that would offend some customers. But it's these thieves that drive the price up for the customers.

It would have been an even funnier if he was forced to sing 'I'm A Loser' by The Beatles.
