A study of the hard-partying rocker revealed he actually has several genetic mutations that may explain how he's lived so long, scientists say.

Some of them "we've never seen before," said geneticist Nathaniel Pearson, who was part of the team that sequenced Osbourne's DNA for Massachusetts lab Knome Inc.

Osborne is 62 years old. Hardly and unusual age.

I suspect that Lemmy and Keith Richards have exactly the same mutation.

If you heard half the stories about ozzy's drug and alcohol use he should have not lived half that long. A good documentary on Lemmy is Play Fast Die Old

Quiver sliver topic

I was not aware of the further research of sequencing Neanderthal DNA. The last info I had read on Neanderthal-Homo Sapiens Sapiens mating and producing a hybrid ancestor was still up in the air. :?

But with Ozzy, I should not be surprised. And I will be watching for further insight on his mental/cognitive health as he enters his senior years.

If you watch video interviews of Ozzy from the 80's compared with videoes of him today you can hear a major difference in his speech paterns.

It is when you consider just how badly he abused his body back then.

Neither hither nor yon. We shall see just how long he lives and how healthy he remains.

The reason he's regarded as having "lived so long" is because over the years he has extensively abused drugs and alcohol
Quote:
Scientists are to map Ozzy Osbourne's genetic code in a bid to find out how he is still alive after decades of drug and alcohol abuse.

(Sky news)

Apparently the genetic code reveals differences in how he process drugs and alcohol

As Osbourne is quoted as saying:
Quote:
"I was curious," he explained to the Sunday Times. "Given the swimming pools of booze I've guzzled over the years – not to mention all of the cocaine, morphine, sleeping pills, cough syrup, LSD, Rohypnol … you name it – there's really no plausible medical reason why I should still be alive. Maybe my DNA could say why."

(The Guardian UK)

Quote:
The results will hopefully help scientists understand why the bodies of hard-living rockers such as Ozzy, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Iggy Pop are able to take more substance abuse than the average person.

62 isn't that old.

Compare his age to other rockers who have gone through the same "treatment" of drugs, the "high life" and tell me how long they've lived on average? <.<

I for one, am slightly interested in what can be found.

I knew a man who lived to 92 years old drinking like a fish and addicted to....male enhancement drugs....does that count? He died last year
