While it would be good to see Mubarak stand down, the problem is what the next government would be like? e.g. Iran after 1979.

You are right. Every time a corrupt and evil establishment is out of power one just as bad often takes its place.

"revolutions" are great opportunities for change for the better but it is is a matter of how educated and passionate the people are and how they go about trying to influence what will come next.

Sadly though, it also depends on how how big the wallets are of the next potential government.

Mubarak is a terrible dictator. Hopefully Saudi Arabia is next.

As bad as Mubarak is, we and by we I mean the West, really don't want his government to fall. If Mubarak goes, there will be a war in the Middle East. Egypt currently helps Israel contain Palestinian terrorism by keeping their border with Gaza sealed. If Egypt's government goes, you can bet that Hamas will not only be bringing in every weapon they can get, it's a safe bet that much of Egypt's military stock pile (Given to them by who other than the US) will find its way into Hamas's hands. Israel won't let that happen and even if they don't invade the Sinai, I can't imagine Israel will allow Egypt to fall into radical Islam's hands. This is really, really bad...

It's great that the US is worried about it's client dictator and brilliant for the Egyptian people that his downfall is now being talked about. The Egyptian people have the same right to choose their own government that americans have.

Very likely the UN is going to ask Egypt to pay off their debts amassed by their dictators. This would be very unfortunate as it would limit the people's choices. Because the "democratic" government would be forced to be the larger countries' plaything.

And I heard on the radio that they arrested Mohamed El-Baradei, the ex-UN weapons inspector.

Egypts internet, as well as Syrias apparently has just been shut down seemingly minutes after a video of a protester being published online.

There goes ANY chance of the real facts coming through. All people will have to rely on is the filtered info the media show us.

I've been watching Al Jazeera for last hour. This is amazing to watch. This will be the fate of all tyrannical governments.

Yes but the sad thing is many people an unaware of the real situtation which unfolding all around the world.

the media source you mentioned is far less filtered than the "standard ones" like bbc in the uk and cnn in america.
