There isn't a facefalm picture that's enough to describe this, there really isn't.
This show has been in the UK for years and nothing bad has happened as a result. I think you'll find that if a teenager is gonna do drugs or drink or whatever, they're gonna do it whether or not a TV show includes those themes. After all, it's not like they'd be ignorant of the existence of drugs without the TV telling them about it

I have to agree. When I was a teen, no such show existed but that didn't stop us from indulging. The TV show geared toward teens of my generation was
Happy Days, which included no sex or drugs but it did have one character jump over a shark while waterskiiing. None of us decided to jump over sharks. (But we did decide that "jump the shark" would make a great addition to popular idioms. Your welcome

).
Parents should view this show as an opportunity for discussion with their kids.
I have seen the British version (years after it aired, I assume) and I found it to be extremely well done. The situations and their outcomes were plausible and the characters seemed like real humans, not two dimensional stereotypes. And I'll take Asp-Z's word for it that there has been no actual fallout in terms of how teens conduct their day to day lives. I have no hopes that the MTV version will be anywhere near as good. The U.S. has a terrible track record of taking awesome British TV shows and making inferior versions. Sorry about that.
