Me personally, seeing 2 men kissing isn't something I enjoy, but I can always turn around. I wonder if it were lesbians kissing, I bet they wouldn't have been asked to leave. That'd be funny if people do go there for a kiss in.

Snow job at John's pub topic

I find this really bizarre, in this day and age. If it is at a private club, there can be arcane rules, but in a public place two people sharing a smooch is not enough grounds for eviction.

Mr. Snow and his ilk are phobies.

A pub isn't public though, it's private property. So, yes, the publican was absolutely right to decide what he does or doesn't allow on his property.

True; it's called a public house but it's actually private property to which the public have access.

I was listening to a discussion about this on Radio2 the other day. They were talking to one of the guys thrown out and a respresentative of the licensed victuallers association. Turns out they weren't really thrown out for kissing. They were thrown out for not doing what the landlord told him. The guy said that the landlord told them to stop kissing, that he didn't want to see that kind of behaviour in his pub. He admitted that he replied to the landlord that if he didn't want to see it then he shouldn't look. He then carried on kissing his date and refused to stop when the landlord told him to, so he was then thrown out.

The guy from the licensed victuallers said a landlord is fully entitled to ban any sort of behaviour that he sees fit from his pub. He said it was fairly common for landlords to ban kissing (of the snogging variety as in this case). In his pub, it's not allowed. Nothing to do with being gay or straight. It's not allowed. He said he didn't know of any landlord who would allow a customer to back chat him, refuse to follow instructions and still remain in his establishment.

I used to work in a resto-bar that referred to itself as a 'pub'. I remember one night there was this couple (guy and girl) that wouldn't stop making out. The doorman showed them the door, because they had been asked to stop the public display of affection several times as it was making other people around them uncomfortable. I assume they aren't 14 year old kids, they should know better

Kiss and make out? topic

I suppose the only straight places allowing a public display of affection are strip joints.

 I don't even think strip joints would let you, unless you were paying one of their girls.
I think its kind of funny that the assumption is homophobia here, when in reality it is simply that some people are not considerate of others comfort. There is a time and place for affectionate behavior of that nature

This guy seriously went a whole 7 years without being harassed?

I'm packing my bags and moving where he is... right now.

The guy's a total liar. I get harassed for being fat very often up here. The problem is that it's not societally acceptable to pour venom on gays like it used to be but many other groups get more than their fair share of abuse. Some people end up being seriously assaulted with the attackers using their overweightness or the fact that they are a smoker as an excuse.

I'm sure the left-wing harpies will see to it that the landlord gets prosecuted for his trouble, further helping to kill off the British pub. As if the bans, heavy taxes and neutered policing haven't already killed them already.

You're married to a man though.

I bet he would let a guy and girl kiss though. He probably wanted them out cause it was bad for business.

My mum got kicked out of a pub for kissing a bloke. And this was 25+ years ago.

So, no, I don't think the 'homophobe!' charge will stick.

Even if the guy is a secret homophobe (which I doubt), it's his pub, his rules.

I guess it depends on the pub.

I bet it will stick, and i'm not really in favour of gays kissing in public, but its best to ignore it.

No, i wasn't saying he was, but obviously a lot of people, mainly straight men, don't wanna see two gay men kissing.
