Rreally. The UK has come a long way in the understanding of diverse cultures, and they could learn a thing or two more by studying the way Canada is a workable multicultural society.

To note London was not the only city in the UK to have riots in the 80s, Merseyside had riots the Toxteth one, & ones on the Wirral in Egremont & Noctorum.

Also Leeds in Chapeltown, Manchester in Moss Side, and Birmingham in Handsworth.

Its just another of many reasons why you should not vote for Tory scum!! !

We'll not mention the Oldham, Harehills and Bradford race riots that took place in May, June and July 2001 respectively under a Labour government, shall we?

I was only referring to the 1981 riots in which is the topic the OP choice to discuss.
then again the '81 riots was with racial tensions in the Afro-Caribbean communities,
the 2001 ones were with South Asian Islamic communities, so what's your point then?

My point is that party political tribalism with regards to rioting is pointless. There generally ends up being a race riot every ten years or so (Northern Ireland is a different story, they generally tend to riot there when they feel like it - there's at least one reliable riot per year up there).

The '81 riots the current government (Tory) at that time was three years in power & some of there policies had a hand to play in them riots eg the Sus laws. The 2001 riots on the other hand had far right-wing groups creating the s**t, Labour has sod all in starting them riots.

It's looking though that not much has changed - we still have stop and search laws like they did pre-1981. So what has changed?

Using my home town for example, Toxteth as only had cosmetic changes that haven't tacked the issues ihmo.
