"Thank you for the freak show. She died in front of me."
That was was Jarred Loughner had said in court, when the judge had determined he was not competent to stand trial, due to a diagnosis of schizophrenia. At one point, Loughner had to be removed from court due to an emotional outburst. When the judge had asked him if he wanted to behave himself and stay, or watch outside of court on the closed circuit TV, Loughner said, "I want to watch the TV."
If his mental state improves, he may in fact still stand trial. If not, the charges may be dismissed against him.

I suspect that sooner or later the court will just have to declare him insane and commit him indefinitely. The prosecutor has acted overzealous in the past to try and claim his conviction, so I wouldn't be surprised if he keeps getting re-committed for treatment and sent back to trial for a very long time.

Agreed. Lock him up. Loughner disturbs me much more than other individuals who have gone on a spree shooting. I looked at his YouTube videos and some of the stuff that he posted on the Internet. The stuff he wrote was nuts. I couldn't get any clear message from it.

He's not pissed off at the world and full of himself, which is generally the feeling I get from other spree shooters, like the guys who did Columbine, Virginia Tech, etc. Loughner strikes me as completely deranged. Like an unpredictable bomb about to explode at any moment. Scary.

That's why he'll probably end up committed rather than convicted eventually.
