MA: 62,000 sign anti-DREAM Act petition
http://www.hometownannapolis.com/news/top/2011/06/01-30/62000-sign-anti-DREAM-Act-petition.html
That's more than triple what they needed to keep the petition drive going to put a measure on the ballot to repeal Maryland's new DREAM act.

SC: Senate to vote on changing immigration law
http://www2.wsav.com/news/2011/jun/01/sc-senate-immigration-law-ar-1914096
This would repeal the fines imposed for hiring illegal aliens, and instead join Arizona in revoking the business licenses of repeat offenders.

US: The Mobilizing Against Sanctuary Cities Act (MASC Act): H.R. 2057.
http://standardspeaker.com/news/barletta-proposes-sanctuary-legislation-1.1155348
This would cut federal funding to "sanctuary cities".

AZ: Use of consulate cards was partially banned.
http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2011/05/31/20110531arizona-immigration-consulate-id-cards.html
As of July 20th, no state or local government agency may accept foreign consulate cards as a legal document. Private businesses may accept them for transactions with their customers if they wish (for unrestricted items), and police may take them for their preliminary investigation but not for official identification.

MA is the abbreviation for Massachusetts not Maryland which would be MD.

True. I stand corrected on that point.

Im very happy about the last three of those. Intentional Seeking of Illeagal immigrant workers is a horrendous practice and should be ended in an expedient, but thorough and fair manner. I agree that Revoking Business Licenses is a good idea.

This is why I call for thorough and fair procedures though. And why I disagree with, nor rejoice in, the first article:

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/21/educa ... nerip.html

I agree that hopping a border with the intention of undermining an immigration system, exclusively for self betterment, is a crime and punishable. But I disagree that everyone that has found themselves in the U.S. Without a Green Card has committed that crime. Further I posit that the U.S. immigration system is a joke, and should be Revamped FIRST AND FOREMOST, before any talk about serious attempts at deporting people that have been here for more then about 3 years, even having had committed the a fore mentioned Crime to begin with, assuming that that was their only crime. By all means, deport any person convicted of a crime, straight into their nations prison system (Of course, assuming that their prison system is harder to get past then our border). But please don't deport the witness' to that crime, merely for having the temerity for standing up in the first place (Give em a chance to make their case, particularly under trying circumstances like witnessing a crime, AND sticking around to see justice done).

Quote:
To solve crimes, police depend on illegal immigrants and others in the public to make statements as witnesses and victims, said the report, which mentions the example of illegal immigrant Danny Sigui.

Sigui testified in a 2003 murder case in Providence, R.I., but later said he wouldn't have come forward if he had known he would face deportation.

As for that Immigration system I mentioned earlier? Right now, to Immigrate to the US, it is a Minimum of a 2-4 year process, and thats if you marry someone. If you just want to live here, you're looking at an average of 8+ years, and thats after Dealing with a RANDOM lottery. So someone that applied 2 years after you (For the same visa) can end up in the US before you.....

Have a Gander at that.... Little light reading for the evenings? Its daunting just to look at that damn site, much less navigate your future through it. And thats before you even apply to immigrate. Oh, by the way, be ready to fork over somewhere between $1500-4500 (Depending on the method via which you're attempting to immigrate), never mind the fact that you only earn $4 a month (Hence the desire to immigrate here in the first place).

Anyway, thats my take on it.

Your argument is only valid if you assume they have any right to come here at all. But they don't. We are not obligated to take in anyone with the exception of a handful of refugees periodically. While we let some people in, we simply cannot accommodate everyone that tries to come here.

I don't know about that. I guess admit them if they can show an ability to pay up front as long as the ER doesn't have a wait time. If they are in a triage situation, put the ones who can pay up front at the back of the line, and either turn away or black tag those that can't.

California Governor Jerry Brown was implying that Michael Savage would let illegal aliens bleed to death.
