Columbo' Star Peter Falk Dies at 83

Image

Quote:
Actor Peter Falk, who was best known for his role as 'Columbo' has died, according to a statement released by his family. "Falk died peacefully at his Beverly Hills home in the evening of June 23, 2011," according to the statement Peter Falk is survived by his wife, Shera, of 34 years and two daughters from a previous marriage.

The actor suffered from advanced dementia that set on after a series of dental opperations in 2007. In 2009, his wife of more than 30 years, Shera, and daughter, Catherine, engaged in a legal tug-of-war over who should be in charge of his personal affairs; a judge ruled that Shera would retain control.

Falk was best known for his role as iconic cop Lieutenant Columbo in the long-running TV series "Columbo." He won four Emmy awards for his work on that show.....

R.I.P. He will be missed.

I am very saddened by this news. He was a wonderful actor. Having seen Wings of Desire, the only thing I can think of to say is that I imagine he has returned to the angels from whence he came.

R.I.P.

As Falk's eyes appeared to be closing for the last time, they suddenly opened up and he said "Oh Just one more thing...."

This is really sad news. Peter Falk came from Ossining, New York (that's where you go when you get "sent up the river"-- Sing Sing Prison in Ossining), my Mom's hometown. My Mom actually went to school with him. The Falk family had a dry cleaning shop and Peter used to work behind the counter. He was a great talent.

I'm sad to hear about Peter Falk's death. My dad loved watching him on Columbo and I thought that he was hilarious in the 1965 slapstick comedy The Great Race as Jack Lemmon's bumbling sidekick. He will definitely be missed.

He was a good actor I loved him in Columbo and also in Murder by Death, but the one part I liked the most was when he played the Grandfather telling the story to his Grandsom"gred savage" in Princess Bride.

it wont be the same without him but he truely owned Columbo

Amazing talent. Sad to lose him, though I hear he was suffering from severe dementia the past few years.

I so much love Columbo. I wish there were television shows like that these days.
