Oh and guess what... He's pulled the Aspergers card. And people wonder why Aspies are getting a reputation for being nasty, sick people :(

Just heard about this from a friend by text a minute ago. s**t man, Asperger's is having too much of a bad name recently due to the actions of a minority of Aspies as reported in the news.

I didn't see where he pulled it, others mentioned he had it and suffered alcohol problems. But damn did they have to mention them in the article?

That's BS. Now Asperger's is going to be used as an excuse for "not being able to judge the severity of my actions" Wonderful.

I think that this troll is a very nasty or messed up person, what he has done is horrible. I do not care if he is an aspie or not. What he did was deeply wrong.

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

I don't care if he has Asperger's OR alcohol problems! I agree with the fact that he is a very nasty, messed up person.

It's a nasty, nasty thing to do but I don't think jailing people for what are basically insults is the right answer. Free speech and all that.

It may have served him better if people found out who he was and posted his details online instead.

Who's saying that we don't think he's messed up? The point is that people who read this are going to see us as this kind of person...

Aren't 99% of crimes caused by NTs anyway? >_>

Reading through all of it, I noticed that they mentioned "Asperger's Syndrome" a 2nd time. Smh.
And yeah, this person is pretty messed up.

Um, yes, they had to, just like they'd have to say that one with Asperger's who took his or her life was bullied into suicide by neurotypicals.

...Oh wait, they never do that.

Was just about to post this article. Beat me to it hehe.

Yes pretty messed up. It's somewhat understandable why he did it though, i.e. to feel a sense of power which his isolated life, unemployed status, and alcohol problem clearly didn't provide him. I'm obviously not condoning it -- it's clearly a very cruel and insensitive thing to do -- but I can see how there is an indirect connection with AS.

That guy definatly crossed the troll line....trolling is usually not meant to actually cause harm, that guy clearly likes to take things way to far. It is one thing to make annoying posts on a forum just to mess with people in the harmless sense....but using the internet to harras people is not cool.

I ended up posting a very angry blog post about this article after seeing here. The guy probably could've gotten away with it in my country, sadly. I'm not even sure I should post angry blogs anymore as this seems to entice those kinds of people troll. I get that enough on youtube and I've just said the heck with it and don't respond to them. And the last time someone trolled me on youtube, I just left it there. I don't get many views, but I thought, well i'll see what happens if I leave a troll comment up and see what kind of comments other people leave for him. :) After all the people online that are very popular that get trolled leave them up, although probably because they can't be bothered to sift through all of them.

Anyways, I thought it was stupid for them to use Aspergers in the case as this had no relevance as far as I can see. But I guess the people representing him didn't know any better. Or the aspie thought he could use it to his advantage. It really paints the wrong picture. For one thing the people being bullied in life are usually aspies. I'm not sure of many aspies that become what they hate most. So I'd feel sorry for him...if this was before he did this crap and I saw the crap that turned him into what he is now.

It was confirmed today that this same person was responsible for posting an altered image on the
tribute page of a young woman near me who was tragically killed in an accidental shooting.

In my opinion he should have received a lifetime ban preventing him accessing the internet ever again and if he gets bored he should tend to the graves of the deceased persons he chose to target.

I don't believe that this article will alter the general populations perception of the autistic community.

Only someone who was very quick to form predjudices would conclude that all Aspies are immoral from reading the article, and that sort of person would probably dislike Aspies anyway simply because we have characteristics that are different from the norm.

Ugh. That's pretty draconian, and I doubt the relatives would appreciate the second bit.

This man posted a doctored photo of a teen-ager accidentally killed by a shotgun blast. What he did to the photo was put 'bullet holes' in her face. Another teen-aged girl had jumped in front of a train because she couldn't stand being bullied any more. He posted a doctored image of Thomas the Train Engine with her face. He posted a message to another dead girl's mother 'Help me, mother, it's hot in Hell'. NONE of this has anything to do with Asperger's at all. One article explained that Asperger's individuals have difficulty understanding other people's reactions. This person understood exactly what the reaction would be: more pain to bear. I do believe that for Aspergers to have been brought up by the British media is unfair and potentially detrimental to the understanding that we are all lookin for from the mainstream. Thank you so much, Jellybean, for this topic: it is a perfect one for this community. Sylkat
