Apparently some airlines don't like displays of affection...

...if you are Gay.

My two cents, Southwest just shot themselves in the foot PR wise with the LGBT community.

What are your thoughts on this ladies and gentlemen?

Southwest does stuff like this all the time. It actually makes perfect sense, given that the bulk of its patrons are more socially conservative.

Initial reports indicate that we received several passenger complaints characterizing the behavior as excessive.

We'll soon find out what "excessive" means.

I'm not too keen on the ways airlines show affection for me, like x-raying my buttcrack, or asking to see all of my possessions because I didn't look someone in the eye...

Sadly unsurprising. One gay person can give another a light peck on the cheek, and people will start screaming about those flamboyant homos flaunting their sexuality and being "all in my face with it," meanwhile Romeo & Juliet are five seats away making out so loudly that it sounds like someone is stirring potato salad and the people around them look mildly annoyed at worst.

true...expecially in that area of the US.

NotYetDeadFred, your right about that. I guess the L-word actress could have said she was doing a security check :P

Somewhat off topic, but this thread triggered a sudden understanding of why my kids get searched every time we fly. (and we travel a LOT) It's our "slightly off" behaviors like not making eye contact and just doing things a little different than everyone else. =/ Looking for terrorists is only a cover...TSA is really looking for aspies! lol

I think my gay credentials are in order, so I am going to go out on a limb here.

There is some reporting suggesting that the passengers' removal was due not to their actions but rather to their reaction at being asked to stop.

If you are going to stage a "kiss-in" on board an aircraft, and then go ballistic when a flight attendant asks you to stop, I am going to be considerably less sympathetic than if you were, say, merely holding hands.

Yeah, I think it's going to depend on what they actually did. Either, it was a normal no-big-deal kiss, and some passengers & flight attendants overreacted, or they were going at it in a way that would've been obnoxious and excessive even if they were straight.
