If he is dead then hooray for the planet. He had noregrets for the crimes he committed. Since he died as a military combatant in the service of a twisted agenda I shed no tears.

Forgive me, please, everyone, for my no doubt apalling ignorance, but I had not realized he was American- born and had (supposedly) never relinquished his American citizenship! Sylkat 8O

Does that change much? Well actually it does reflect badly on the USA...

When it was announced on my news channel, the controversy was raised by a few people, and some people in Congress were heard complaining about that fact as well.

But technically, does not plotting against your country (read: the one where you lived and had citizenship for) constitutes treason? =/

The problem is, is whether the main society can stop muslim extremists from forming in their midst, or whether it's a cultural issue of the minority. This is the delicate problem when dealing with extremists being produced and a minority being involved. Both sides can get offended according to where you try to put the blame.

True, but it would have been nearly impossible to get a rendition team or some other black ops unit into the area and successfully capture him without massive casualties and a high risk he'd escape.

I'm deeply ambiguous; he did position himself as an enemy combatant actively attacking this country, but I'm still not comfortable with a presidential death warrant being used instead of a trial before he was targeted.

Not necessarily. It would be difficult, but to be honest I think a USA team would have been completely capable of capturing him. Otherwise, why the big military budget?
