Don't Ask Don't Tell has been repealed! Civil rights marches on, as America comes one step closer to achieving total equality for all citizens.

Here, Here!! :D

A person who is gay or lesbian should have the same equal civil and human rights as anyone else.

(And incidentially, the movement for equality for lesbian and gay persons, as well as persons who self-identify as transgendered provides an excellent model of what we might accomplish for a more open world and civil rights for persons who are Asperger's / Autism Spectrum.)

Now your government can stop wasting time, money and effort on rooting out homosexuals in the armed forces and turn its attention to more important matters.

And members of the armed forces--regardless of their sexual orientation--can get on with their jobs.

You know how they say there are no atheists in fox holes? Well there aren't any homophobes either.

When it comes right down to it, all that really matters is, can the person covering you shoot a gun?

Just last night at the Republican presidential debate, a gay soldier (using I believe Skype) serving in Iraq had asked Rick Santorum if he would reinstate Don't Ask Don't Tell. Members of the Republican crowd booed the soldier - who is currently putting his life in danger. Santorum and the other candidates didn't say a word to defend the serviceman against the bigotry of the crowd. In fact, Santorum went on a tangent about how sex shouldn't be an issue with soldiers, regardless if their gay or straight - totally ignoring the fact that gays were in fact being kicked out of the service simply for being homosexual.

^ The crowds at these debates have been frightening me more than the candidates.

For me, it's a close one about who's scarier.

For fun, Google "Santorum."

*Fair warning though - you cannot unlearn that which has been learned. Also, may not be appropriate for some audiences - but it's quite appropriate Mr. Santorum.

And yet the Republicans wouldn't want to offend the bigotry of their supporters, or the wrath of God Almighty by allowing gays to fight in the military - just like blacks serving in a segregated military at one time.
