Heidi was a an opossum in the Leipzig Zoo in Germany. She became world famous because she was fat, cute, and cross-eyed. The zoo sold t-shirts , sweatshirts, and drinking glasses with her face on them, she had at least 1 Facebook page, she was on twitter, she was the most popular animal at the zoo since the day they put her on exhibition. She is worth Googling, just because she was adorable. The reason I put this on WP's News/Current events is that firstly, I'm sad that she's gone, second, her death has made the news worldwide, and thirdly, isn't it interesting that when a cute, harmless animal is 'different' she is lovable, she is surrounded by an adoring public, and when she died unexpectedly, people were heartbroken. However, when you have a cute, harmless child who is 'different', such as Autism or Asperger's, this is a serious problem, get a shrink, get some meds, look into a good live-in facility, we've got to DO something to fix/change this! As in, make it go away....Sylkat.... :(

Yeah, its rare to have that happen for humans but, I suppose some people like Howard Stern are working to fix that. You also have Tiny Tim from back in the 70's who became famous for being strange.
