I think what this article points out is that Aspergers is not a we're all exactly the same condition. We can vary widely in how we perceive & interact with the world. For wxample: Yes, many Aspies don't make eye contact, but others do. I can do it, but it's NOT natural, and I have to remind myself to do it. We truly are a Spectrum of people.

This is one of the most sensible articles I ever seen written about AS in the NT world. I hope many people read it too.

Great article. I like how it points out that there are several different types of aspies:

Quote:
Either they’re very orderly and “become unglued if things don’t go their way” or their days are in disarray, and they have a lot of difficulty with daily responsibilities

Quote:
Some people with AS are super shy, while other are “chatterboxes.”

I'm definitely the "super shy" and "difficulty with daily responsibilities" type.

I am the chatterbox who says the wrong thing at the wrong time meanwhile having trouble with daily living skills and organization.
I can also get selective mutism under certain situations and around certain people.

My six year old daughter, who had been diagnosed with PDD-NOS, definitely fits the description of a chatterbox. Everyone is taken by her personality and quirky humor. And yet, from the way she can become emotionally frazzled, there's no mistaking her autism.

Now....

If only they would add the Aspie myths of, "does not have an imagination" and "is a math-whiz totally obsessed by technology," this article would be perfect.

Aspies are supposed to have excellent rote memory. I have practically zero rote memory.
