I doubt that there is that much in the state court's budget.

They better not complain about it again.

Now we know who to blame when the next recession happens

No one is worth 150 billion (with a B)..

The award will be reduced to a sane amount on appeal.

This is the lunacy that results from leaving damage awards to juries.

Juries are eminently capable of separating truth from falsehood, and reaching a common sense decision about which witnesses to believe and which to disbelieve. There are centuries of strong track record for juries reaching verdicts.

But the practice of juries setting damages is foreign to the Common Law outside the United States. Quantum is a technical exercise for which juries are ill suited. And the whole principle of punitive damages turns the law on its head. Punishment is the realm of the criminal law, not tort law.
