lol, I would totally had gone for the magazine the way he presented it! (Although I do not open the door so I would never find myself in that situation)

One of the many reasons that I do not open my door.

One of the many reasons why I tell every stranger who knocks on my door "NO!", and then close it again.

We have a sticker on our door window which says 'No Sales Please', but they still knock. One spotted it after knocking, told me he'd just spotted it and walked away - that was unusual. If I can get away with it, I usually ignore knocks on the door anyway. If I'm not expecting them, they're probably sales.

It's not just pushy salespeople or religious people that are reasons I don't open the door unless I'm expecting someone or a package to be delivered. There was a case down the street where people knocked on doors, and when there was no answer, they tried to break in. Since then, I tell the person at the door that I'm not interested through the closed and locked door. It lets any potential burglars know that someone is home, and it lets the salesperson know to leave.

sex, drugs or magizine....I never heard of a sales pitch like that!!
Just recently, there was 2 jehova witnesses doing door to door preaching/flyer handouts. Usually I enthusasticly agree with them and they leave rather quickly as they feel no need to preach to me.

I am also a sucker for kids selling stuff for school.
I bought a pastry bread thing from a kid that sat in my fridge for 6 months before I threw it out...the ingredients were totally unpronoucable. I have to have a degree in chemistry to know what I was eating.

probably one of the two AND being a lousy salesman who was not not making any money cause he only got paid by percentages of what he sold.

I believe Boone, NC is a college town, right? I think it is Appalachian State, but I am not sure really.

Door-to-door magazine sales in areas like college towns is one of the most dangerous scams running. Usually a group of hired college-aged people for a bogus company try to get personal or banking information from people using these fake magazine sales. They usually get in pretty easily, and are very sly. The age of the seller and the other complaints about more people concern me. Hopefully the police investigate the actual magazine company to see if they are legit, and if not, then they shut it down.
