First the Crocodile Hunter, now some other guy. Something has got to be done about these vicious gangs of stingrays roaming our seas!

I was just reading that before I came here, actually.
Is this some part of your conspiracy thingy? I've gone my whole life without hearing anything of homicidal stingrays and now, 2 in a year.
It's global warming, isn't it.

It;s a freak incident. It'd be even more freaky if it occurred in Australian waters again. (Steve Irwin was the third to be fatally stabbed by a stingray in Australian history...)

Sting rays aren't supposed to be that aggressive.

Actually, stingrays are known to leap from the water; at least British ones are reported to, though I'm not sure if that's exactly the same species as the Australian one — probably not. I suppose sooner or later it's inevitable one will land in someone's boat, and somewhere in the world, every now and then, one will score a lucky shot, so to speak. Interestingly, anecdotal accounts of fish jumping into boats aren't that uncommon as I recall hearing, or reading, a number of stories over the years. I know, too, that billfish are occasionally responsible for killing people (usually a fisherman) who become impaled on their pointed bill. Of course, as with the stingray, this has nothing to do with aggression per se but just a combination of circumstances that bring the delicate anatomy of a human being in to contact with the spiky bits of a very large fish.

Maybe there is a greater occurence of AS among the animal population. They just don't like their space being invaded.OR maybe it was being chased by something looking for it's next meal and it was trying to defend itself and the human was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.I've seen a stingray leap out of the water here in Australia,it was being chased by a shark.OR maybe the animals are sick of us humans wrecking the joint(the planet) and they do have a conspiracy happening.Best contact x-files.

i was thinking the same thing. we have the gall to complain about the animals killing another human when we are in their space.. Don't get me wrong I loved Steve Irwin. he is in heaven now missing his kids but knowing that he tried like heck to bring attention to this planet that we are killing off endangered species..

we have a local story here in New York State where the park police were going to gather up massive abounts of geese and gas them. why you say? because they poop all over the public swimming hole and polute the water so the humans can not use the swim hole. it was a huge thing here.. the animal rights activist were up in arms.. I was ticked off because we were the ones who were driving them out of their habitat by building our homes, malls, and highways. and they find a place to hang out and they want to rid them.. well the good news is that they lived.. some bright people took the time to balance it out. they took their dogs their 3 times a day to chase the birds and lessen the polulation. it was the better of all the choices.. no geese were gassed!

WP is the Lifestream of this planet. If it goes down, something bad must happen.

Having experienced a stingray push its barb thru the gunwales of a wooden boat, 8O
I don't think its that freaky. In my case, we were chasing and harrassing the stingray (as boys do) in shallow water. It was just self defence. (it worked - we left it alon after that)
