Is it a American or Egyptian no fly list? If it's Egyptian, get a boat ride to Israel. If it's American, either fly way north or to the equator or southern hemisphere, and then get a flight to Canada or Mexico that doesn't cross US airspace. I believe that there is a place for banning some people for flying like some people get banned from other business establishments, but the current lists and methods are absurd.

When one is in a foreign country one is subject to foreign law. If the relevant Egyptian authorities proclaim, "thou shalt not leave" then there thou shalt remain until the authorities decide otherwise.

Let's hope that ten plagues are not required to effect a change of attitude.

It used to be that if you voted in another countries election you would lose your citizenship here.

-i'm sure they could figure out a way to leave the country.

Egypt, unlike the United States, exercises exit controls. While the "no-fly list" excuse may be in the story, the reality may be that the Egyptian government is refusing permission to leave the country, generally.

Short of crossing the Red Sea, a desert trek into Libya or Sudan or stowing away on a vessel out of Alexandria, there are precious few options for a person in the country who wishes to leave without permission.

It's not just a "no fly" list. It's a list of people not allowed to leave Egypt by any means.
