Quote:
An online call for peace initiated by an Israeli couple has managed to achieve the support of 1,000 Israelis and Iranians. And it all began with two posters.

However, by Sunday morning, Edry began receiving the first signs of reactions from the other side.

"We also love you. Your words are reaching us despite the censorship," wrote one Facebook user from Iran. "The Iranian people, apart from the regime, do not hold a grudge nor animosity against anyone, especially not the Israelis… We never saw Israelis as our enemies. As such, the regime cannot gain public support for war."

Aww!

Not getting too much attention, so I thought I'd drop it here.

As far as I can see this is true, there is no reason historical or current that there should be any emnity, Iran is actually more likely the natural enemy of the Arabs.
I'm pretty sure the regime does it to divert attention from other things, sabre rattling for diversionary reasons.

Historically, Iran, aka Persia, has been one of the most liberal, educated, and religiously tolerant countries in the world. Some of the citizens, I know, want war with Israel. They want to be liberated from the insane government that holds them captive and see war with Israel as their only way out. Whatever happens, pray for Persia, that it's people might find freedom. Iran and Israel could be the best of friends. What a mess.

I'm of the Messianic Jewish faith and I have Iranian friends on Facebook. Some of these Iranian friends are even in the Iranian military, yet they always talk to me and treat me with respect. The majority of Iranians like their cars, their electronics, their computers, going out, and having fun. Doesn't that sound like us? The problem with the Iranian people as well as the American people is the fact that we both live under repressive governments. Each government is repressive in its own way. I wish the Iranian, Israeli, and American people well.

The Iranians - the normal ones, not the Muslim crazies - seem decent enough people. A pity they have such an appalling government though.

Perhaps it is best to be a mouse.

Israel still hates Palestine.

Israel 'turning blind eye' to West Bank settlers' attacks on Palestinians

Quote:
Jewish settlers in the West Bank are conducting a systematic and expanding campaign of violence against Palestinian farmers, families and children with the Israeli authorities turning a blind eye, according to confidential reports from senior European Union officials

What is Israel's beef with Palestine??? I never understood this. Did you know many of the leaders of Israel are Holocaust survivors yet they use alot of the same techniques the Nazi's used on them, on the Palestinians?? WTF?? what is that about?? You would think they would have acquired some compassion.

Avoid Godwin's law. The Israelis are not using Nazi techniques [EG gas chambers and basement searches]. They are using post-WII Polish techniques [EG 'Get off mah lawn.' 'But this is my lawn' 'I said get off mah lawn.'].

You don't acquire compassion by being treated badly. That's like kicking a dog every time you see it and still expecting it to greet you with a happy bark and a wagging tail. That dog's going to bite eventually.

Of course, I don't excuse terrorist techniques to counter terrorists. Unless you're literally attacking terrorists with terrorism, then it's hypocritical, roundabout, and useless. The USA is currently doing the same thing, with many of the attacks being on its own people--threat of long prison sentences, excessive fines, police brutality--and I'd assume that European countries are doing the same, along with South America and Central America.

The problem can be rooted back to high-school cliques. Jewish people have been very closed-off in the past, partly because being open led to people trying to convert them all to Catholicism. Or Islam. Well, Muslims can be just as closed-off 'Muslims only' as Jewish people. So you have two sides who want to be left to their devices, and you've crammed them into this tiny strip of land and told some of them to get out and make room. It's like saying, "Jim stole Billy's truck. Mike, give Billy your truck."

There is no good solution for creating a 'Jewish State.' There weren't any before, and unless they were given what was considered an arid, useless piece of land, they'd still be 'in Rome' expected to 'do as the Romans.' Well, Britain, at the time, occupied Palestine. And they said, "Hey, we have this piece of s**t. You can give them THAT." Then they moved in, fixed it up a bit, and more people wanted to live there. Except the Palestinians weren't Jewish, felt alienated, and had recently become the minority after being the majority. Add that to the closed-circle behavior of some Jews,

Tension, snap, fight-or-flight. That's how these things work. :I

Despite this, there are still a lot of arabs who prefer Israel to the surrounding countries, even with some racist douchebags. I lived next door to some Muslim Egyptian immigrants who said that they were going to Israel because their kids liked it better there, they got a better education, and they were treated better. So if Israel is hell for some Arabs, maybe the surrounding Arab countries need to try making things better where THEY are.

Loooong reply aside, that made me happy. The posters and quotes, I mean.
