I think we've seen this one before.


But for years, just in the North Sea, scientific advice over fish stocks has been diluted, if not set aside. Different nations, wanting bigger slices of the pie, propitiated by making the pie conveniently bigger. Political support of fishing industries too: there's votes in jobs.

And the population: "20% of the world's population depend on fish for protein"
That need's not going to decline, unless the population does.
And if the fish go...

The funny thing (well, not funny.. the whole thing's pretty depressing, imo) is that by depleting the available foodstocks, we're encouraging other organisms to take their place.
Read a report last week on the increase in the number of jellyfish worldwide.
Pretty soon, we'll be eating them, I can almost guarantee it.

If they don't import seafood by 2050, what is Seattle going to be like?

No fish left in the sea means that fish farmers inland will reap the benefits.
Control bred freshwater fish = expensive sushi 8O

What's even more shocking is the people who are perpetuating it.

And One-Winged-Angel, how much is it to ask for you not to post OT crap in every topic around here. I can understand AS obsessions but it is getting out of control, and I dislike having my own topics, and other interesting ones hijacked.
