Israeli Minister Agrees Ahmadinejad Never Said Israel ‘Must Be Wiped Off the Map’

Quote:
In a reminder that Persian rhetoric is not always easy for English-speakers to interpret, a senior Israeli official has acknowledged that Iran’s president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, never actually said that Israel “must be wiped off the map.”

And the PM admits it.

A lot of people going around saying that he did say that.

Glad that's finally settled.

Seven years. I just checked and it took them seven years to admit that. Impressive.
It's probably too much to hope that this means they'll also give up on other longstanding nonsense....

I watched the video and I didn't see the PM completely agreeing with that. In fact, he stated that Ahmedinejad's actual words were that the state of Israel is illegitimate and doesn't have a right to exist, which is tantamount to the same thing. The fact that he didn't use those exact words is a matter semantics.

Exactly...but Snapcap is here to spread anti-semitism which is his ultimate objective. EVERY post he has made is to deface either Judaism or Israel...its getting old.

That sounds like more of a disagreement with the process by which Israel was formed into the nation it now is.....not nessisarly 'all jews should die.' type reasoning. But that's just my personal opinion.

How is saying "Israel isn't legitimate" the same as saying "Israel must be wiped off the map"? I don't see how that is vaguely similar.

It sounds more like they sympathize with Palestine.

And Jeremy is hear to allege that I'm an anti-Semite where ever I go. If it's anti-Semitic to report the news, then we are in big trouble!

What I'm reporting are events and news stories that are relevant in that section of the world, because I don't think it's out of the question that the area will be the focal point of a coming conflict, and I'd like people to know about some of the events that might lead up to it.

You should learn to control what you say about other people, seriously.

Reread my quote with bolded section emphasized. It is not so much the "illegitimate" part that is similar but it is the "doesn't have a right to exist" part. In other words, Israel doesn't have a right to exist therefore the state of Israel must be dismantled or wiped off the map.

I bet it was meant that Israel shouldn't have came into existence they way it did. It was in pretty bad taste.

Just in case someone ever asks any of you what irony means and you need an example:

I don't see anything anti-semetic about 'Israel shouldn't have come into existence the way it did. It was in pretty bad taste. I mean from what I've read I tend to disagree with how it came into existence and find it distasteful as well.

But I do not hate anyone for their race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or anything else that's stupid to hate people for.

Post WWII the peace has been kept by not allowing any borders to be adjusted.

The first Gulf War was over Saddam claiming Kuwait as a run away provence. There is some truth to that.

Only one country has been declaring premptive wars, after the fact, and grabbing land, expelling the long term residents, and occupying still more land as a military force.

The UN Charter covers all of these things, it forbids them.

The US vetos any move to question the occupation, but that does not make it legal.

All efforts directed at peace call for one thing, pre 1967 borders, and that has been the world view, UN, since 1967.

It is an illegal occupation, a crime against humanity, and many have been killed, jailed, in their own land by the occupiers.

Saying so has now lead to threats to bomb a country a thousand miles away. This act of war would start WWIII. Whoever starts WWIII will be vaporized. A claim of a first strike over the potential that an atomic weapon may be developed, by someone who claims to have hundreds, can only be met by making sure they never get the chance to use them.

India and Pakistan have the bomb, and the means to deliver it, no one cares. Due to their history, they also see Israel as a new European Colony, a way of holding on to The British Mandate in Palestine,

The Colonial Era was a real crime against the world. It was supposed to end. Replacing British troops with people who claim some of their ancestors lived in the area 2,000 years ago, who also have guns and take the land that others have held for thousands of years, are still Europeans with guns taking over someone elses land.

It is a typical Colonial Occupation, taking a foothold, and then declaring war on all locals, and taking more and more land.

India, China, The Mid East, Africa, were held in Colonial bondage for hundreds of years. They will never accept a European Neo-Colonial outpost.

The UN Charter does not give it the power to partition a country, and give part to another people. Even under British occupation, it was Palestine.

The laws relating to behavior between countries have never been enforced, so the UN treats them like a European Refugee Camp set up after WWII by the British, who were then murdered for their trouble.

It is the same situation being complained about in Syria, one religious minority with guns ruling all. There the call is for democratic elections, with all groups represented. The election has been set, May 7, but activists with guns keep shooting, because they are not voters, citizens, or even in the country legally.

Palestine is currently partitioned, with one group occupying the other. The only answer is One State, universal elections, and a government that represents all. Then they can open all forms of atomic energy to international inspection, like Iran has.

The other option, WWIII, will make WWII look like a mugging. Once it starts, everyone has less than an hour to use it or lose it. It is doubtful anyone will survive the aftermath.

But that is equal to Auschwitz, right?
