The network has been doing some very strange things recently. Guest hosts on Piers Morgan's show, reports on zombies and "bath salts", Anderson Cooper throwing a birthday party on air... seriously, what the flying f**k?

They at least haven't forgotten to do what they excel at - baiting race riots.

There's a ton of real news happening right now, but you won't hear it from CNN.

Just turn it off.

The guest hosts on the Piers Morgan show is because of CNNs recent problems with poor ratings, and the "bath salts" case is discussing the recent event in Miami where a man ate the face of a homeless man in Miami while high on this new type of drug.

Pretty soon, they are going to have political cartoons featuring Obama, Netanyahu, Putin and Ahmadinejad running an ice cream parlor.

You should never forget that news companies are businesses. Their goal is to sell audiences to advertisers. Their goal is not to provide good news coverage. They will only provide good news coverage if they think that providing good news coverage is the best way to sell audiences to advertisers. However, many have come to the conclusion that this is not the best way to sell audiences to advertisers, and so they don't do it.

Never watch television news for any reason. You'll be happier and you won't miss a thing.

Does no one actually read or listen to anything but the titles of news stories anymore?! ! Seriously! Sorry to hijack your thread, but I actually read one of the stories that started the online stuff about these two items all the way through. "Bath salts" is the street name for a complex of psychoactive chemicals including MDPV and mephedrone that causes crazed and violent behavior in the users. It made the news most recently due to a criminal case in Florida, in which a man using one of this complex of drugs ate portions of another man's face. The victim was at that time still alive and in critical condition. The user was shot dead by police when he could not be stopped from attacking his victim. One of the police officers, who apparently has been playing too many video games in off-duty hours, described his behavior as being like a zombie.

Yes, CNN has gone downhill over the past ten years or so and is no better now than any other televised news-source, but so has the quality of people reading and viewing the news.
