This stuff is scary. There has been hundreds of these within the past 24 hours. I hope this doesn't transform into something bigger.

Consider that all of California and a piece of Cascadia is on the boundary of two tectonic plates rubbing and shoving each other. The Big One is as inevitable as the sunrise. I would suggest moving to a more stable part of the country. Get away from the plate boundaries.
