Hi,

I can't tell if anyone has posted this here yet:

Please sign the petition (after you read it, and if you agree).
http://www.autism-hub.co.uk/nih-response/

If you need more information:
http://autismdiva.blogspot.com/2007/01/ ... earch.html

It could make a big difference in how ASD people are treated in the real world, but especially in NIMH funded science. the NIMH funds scientists outside of the US, too. Anyone can sign, we need signatures as soon as possible, they are due on Tuesday and we need to have them packaged emailed or printed and mailed before then (someone will do this with the signatures, all you need to do is sign it if you want to.

At this moment there are 326 signatures, a few are from autism researchers. Dennis Debbaudt speaks at autism conferences and to police depts. on how to keep autistics safe from the wrong-for-autistics police tactics/practices. Several autistic adult advocates have signed it.

It was written by an autism researcher who is a parent of a non-verbal autistic son.

Please pass the URL for the petition around to different groups or email it to people who might be interested, and you can share the autism diva blog URL if you think it is helpful tp explain the petition.

I hope all adults on the spectrum will consider what the petition is saying. It could mean that the US researchers will be forced to look at autism from a positive angle, and look at autistics as something other than vermin to be exterminated in the future, and neglected and abused by "cures" now.

The NIMH is currently running an abusive study on little kids with a chelation drug. If you get into the details of what they are doing, it is really shocking. This is because quacks have convinced a very vocal group of parents to try chelation, and then they set up the parents to believe that the chelation has done something for their child.

Chelation (a different form than what they are doing at the NIMH) killed Abubakar.

I think it's in your best interests to contact the NIMH yourselves by the 16th, instructions are on the autism diva blog I linked to before, or to sign the petition if you don't object to the wording.

Signing the petition could influence the NIMH to not fund "Ashley treatment" type unethical therapies for developed for autistics through research paid by the NIH/NIMH. Hey, bonsai an autistic kid an he'll be easier to manage. Why not?

I don't sign petitions. Not after a certian one that I've signed a few times, just to get my heart broken.

I can't sign this petition for certain reasons. I won't list them for I don't want to start a debate. I not really in the mood. :?
