It's always sad to hear that a great funny man has passed on, but more so when they were as original and daring as Jonathan Winters. Before he came along comedians told jokes, after him they realized the freedom to improvise and become characters. Comedians such as Robin Williams have expressed their admiration for the fast thinking Winters. He was in a lot of movies that aren't very funny, and one that is a true comic gem, "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" where he played a dim witted furniture van driver. Like Bert Lahr, Hollywood was never sure how to let him be himself.
He was also in an episode of The Twilight Zone with Jack Klugman that is one of the most memorable of the entire series.

It seems to me his death marks the end of an era; hope his freedom and creativity somehow live on.

I remember when he was Mork's and Mindy's son in (I think) the final season of Mork And Mindy. He will be remembered as a comedic giant.
