Lumberjack feared killed by crocodile

MIRI: A 26 year-old lumberjack is feared eaten by a crocodile while defecating on the riverbank of crocodile-infested Sungai Karap in Bakong on Saturday night.

Irwanshah Radin disappeared at about 10pm when his screams for help were heard by his colleagues.

He is a Melanau from Mukah, and has been working with a logging camp in the area for about two months.

It is understood that the logging camp manager had often reminded his workers to stay away from the river as it is infested with the ferocious reptiles.

A search-and-rescue operation was launched on Sunday morning after a police report was lodged at Bakong Police Station by the victim’s friends.

One of Irwanshah’s colleagues said he and a few others had heard Irwanshah screaming for help twice that faithful night.

“We dashed to the riverbank after hearing his screams but when we reached the spot where he was supposed to be, he was nowhere to be found.”

The worker’s quarters are located about 50 metres away from the riverbank.

This incident is the third of its kind to be reported in this area since last year.

Idiot he was warned. I like the fact that nature is taking revenge on him cause he is a logger. Sorry to offend anyone but I am a hardcore environmentalist.

This is not a rare event.

I don't have that much sympathy for him,it's disgusting to poop near water in the first place,and only an idiot would squat down near croc infested waters.There is also the irony that he's a logger.But I am sorry for his family,they may miss him.

A very undignified description of this person's probable end.

It pays to look around first before you get ready poop in the wilderness.
