The treatment that people with intellectual disabilities face everyday is horrific when you notice the majority of the population is not employed and face discrimination by the very same people who have no understanding of the autism spectrum. It's bastards like this teenager that makes me lose faith in humanity.

at least he turned himself in.

So the young man is publically intoxicated-- WELL under the legal age-- and already engaging in violent behavior when he turns on a mentally disable almost-senior-citizen and breaks his jaw...

...and he's released on personal recognizance???

If he had beaten up a typically-functioning citizen (or, Heaven help us, a member of a racial/ethnic minority), that would have read "is currently being detained at __________________" or "released to his parents on $XX,XXX.XX bond."

NO, I don't think socking a/n (insert racial/ethnic group here) is more (or less) OK.

But it seems like socking a 'tard is still treated as less of a crime.
