For those who don't know the name, he was the writer of the "Illuminatus Trilogy" and a lot of other fiction. He introduced me to the wonderful world of conspiracy, and the Illumati, and the Sufi. He was a great writer of great books. I just heard that he had died. His family was quoted as saying he has left his body. As far as I'm concerned, a light in the Galaxy of Sci-Fi writing has gone out ...

I've never read the Illuminatus Trilogy, but it is sad to see another prominent science fiction author pass on.

With many of its greats now passing away, do you think there is a future for Sci-Fi, Prof_Pretorius?

No, I think it's turning into adulterated homogenized crap. There is no one to replace Robert Anton Wilson, he will be greatly missed.

RIP. a truly great writer indeed. the illuminatus chronicles series and the schrodinger's cat trilogy i really enjoyed, perhaps moreso even than the illuminatus trilogy.

I had not heard. His work, whether fiction or non was amazing and eye opening. I feel as though I have lost a friend. Warpspeed, RAW. :cry:

Quite so. I just get dis-couraged when I look through the Science Fiction/Fantasy section of a book seller, and see so much of the same fluffy sword and socery nonsense. I hope there are budding iconoclasts in there somewhere.
