Quote:
'Yid' Chants: Tottenham Fans Defy Warnings
  • Police arrest one Tottenham Hotspur supporter for using "threatening, abusive or insulting words" as thousands more ignore a ban.
Thousands of Tottenham Hotspur fans have defied police warnings not to use the word "Yid" in chants.

The Spurs faithful chanted "We'll sing what we want" and "Yid Army" at the game against West Ham United at White Hart Lane in north London.

One Tottenham fan was arrested after the Metropolitan Police pledged they would be "on the look out" for football supporters who used the word and Chief Superintendent Mick Johnson, the match commander, insisted that "racism and offensive language have no place in football".

I have noticed that they love to arrest people for using offensive - not libellous or inciteful - language at football grounds and on Twitter, yet are strangely silent when it comes to much more serious matters.

I wonder why that is?

Disgusting cowardice anyway.

Tequila, I can't defend using that kind of language, though it should hardly be more of a crime than using obscene language in public. Both are nothing more than offenses against good taste.

The problem is that the official state religion of the entire West, the Deformed Church of Political Correctness, has made it the case that whites using such language are committing a grave moral offense whereas other groups can say pretty much what they want.

Offence isn't in the word; it's how you use the word.

Every word has an origin, a history, a useful part in the language.

Outlawing words and arresting people for using a word is so Orwellian, so Communist, so wrong.
Chanting football fans aren’t being offensive, they are being patriotic toward their team. I too would sing whatever I wanted in defiance of any bulls not law forbidding me from doing so.

Tottenham Hotspur has a lot of Jewish fans, and it is well-known as a club with Jewish roots.

ruveyn: Tottenham fans are proud of their Jewish connections. It's what you might call philosemitism.

So a very fervently Jewish Spurs fan, proudly reclaiming a racial slur, and using it when supporting his team can now be charged with racial hatred offences.

f**k, s**t, and ass are on a completely different level than racist slur.

N*****, G***, W**, Y**, S**** F***, (figure out what they are yourself) are words that need to die.
So do Neo Nazi's and the KKK...

Are racial epithets really any different than using obscene language? Do you have any good reason for your position? If not, I will assume this is part of your religion of Political Correctness, a faith I don't share.

Just because I'm a Conservative like you, doesn't mean I have to put up with racism. Abuse the first amendment? NO.
Would I call myself a Wrinkle Skin because I'm part Native American? NO. Trail of tears, Nanking, The Holocaust, I've got plenty of reasons. I'm against political correctness too. But you're also against keeping cussing to a standard.

I understand your position. I'm asking why. But that's okay; I couldn't give an answer either.

You call yourself a conservative. Exactly what is it you wish to conserve?

Hmm, our black hole of an economy. The Bill of Rights from being vaporized. In God We Trust. My chances of spreading the love of Jesus to the world and possibly living in a different country. My chances at having a family of my own. The 2nd amendment, Castle Law, Hunting.....the ban on the 1st amendment being used to wipe Nazi arse oh wait that already went to crap.

A conservative is one who wishes to conserve a particular people and their ways, in a particular time and place. But still it remains that you haven't provided an answer on why you think racial epithets are worse than obscene language. Is it just coincidence that your position is also the Politically Correct position, which is liberalism sacralized?

Or you're Abe Lincoln+Nixon and a Liberal Republican?
I don't support socialism, our higher corporate tax rate than China, Illegal Immigration, allowing satanism to exist on the face of this earth ithout a nuke and a cd of 'jesus loves me, this I know' up it's arse, Nasa exploring past moon, gang culture, the bourgeoisie *jk* (obama, not bill gates), Our court allowing criminals to sue me for their crimes causing them injury, kkk, Neo-Nazi's, gay marriage, pop culture, drink the koolaid, or life in prison sentences longer than 7 years, the monopoly on diamonds, or even the fact I can't just make a sword when I feel like it and sell it to sell it for $1000 because it is too noisy.

Those words are different from ass, b***h, dork, cock, f**k, s**t, because ass, b***h, dork, cock, f**k and s**t meant something useful before America got a hold of it and f****d it up. Racist words still carry the sting of racism, no matter how they are used.

Yes, both Lincoln and Nixon were liberals. The proximate cause of the Civil War was Lincoln's big spending ways and his complete contempt for states' rights. And Nixon was for abortion, gun control, the EPA, price controls, and affirmative action.

Of course, many of the positions you mention are conservative in the American context of that word. But Americans have long mixed liberalism and conservatism in what Ralph Waldo Emerson called double consciousness. The fact still remains that considering racial epithets to be a grave moral offense while the use of foul language is not is Political Correctness, not conservatism. Again, I don't think either foul language or racial epithets should be used. But I have yet to see where the use of either is anything more than a breach of civility.

You mean that people can't be just as offended by obscene language as they are by racial epithets? And what do you mean by the "sting of racism"? Collective guilt?

Maybe, or our duty to correct mistakes made by our forefathers. It doesn't matter who is offended, it is that someone, long ago, the ancestors of those who use it today, used those words to kill.
