those could be useful as a GPS. you'd never have to take your eyes off the road.

So, in short, if your vehicle has what is called a heads-up display of your vehicle's dashboard (similar to the same type of display in an F-14 Tomcat fighter), you can be busted in California for having said type of display in your car. Terrific! Chalk it up to another case of technology being way too far ahead of the law.

Google glass does a lot more than a HUD on a car. I'd call it a major distraction.
The cop was in the right by giving a ticket.

The law says that any visual entertainment display within the driver's field of view is illegal.

HUDs show only vehicle functions. GGs can stream video. Thus, HUDs are legal and GGs are not.

I saw this happening the moment Google Glasses were dished out.
In their current form I'd have to agree with the law on this one. It will be interesting how it's tackled in the future, though, when this sort of technology is not only essential but practically embedded into everyday life.

Some of the luxury cars (Mercedes, Bentley, Etc.) Already have that capacity.

I do believe in this law, nothing should take your attention away from the road. so why does every cop car have a laptop pointed towards them, I'm waiting on the first accident it causes

Well, how else do they have access to driver's info? Where do you think they input license plates to check if a vehicle is stolen?

Sure, they could do that off of a smart phone, but they use lap tops instead. They don't really use the lap tops for anything except that. :roll:

The first sentence you wrote, however, I completely agree with. Especially since I live in a city full of crazy people in general. :lol:

any condition or device that can distract the driver from his primary task of safely navigating his vehicle should be dealt with as severely as is DUI.
