Well played, Hawaii. You're closer to being the next state to legalize same-sex marriage. Now legalize recreational marijuana next! XD

The Ninth Amendment trumps anti-gay and anti-pot laws.

I apologize if I come across as a bit condescending, but can you explain this to me in plain English?

Why is government even involved in the marriage business?

Exactly. Separate those damn churches and states.

Indeed. As I said before, I'm also eagerly awaiting the day that recreational marijuana use gets legalized in HI as well.....

Way to go Hawaii!

If enough signatures are gathered, Oregon may have a referendum on the 2014 ballot that could legalize gay marriage.

Illinois legislature just passed same-sex marriage bill, awaiting the governor's signature which he promised to sign.

Hawaii soon and maybe New Mexico next, hopefully.

I reckon the Hawaiians should sing Aloha 'oe (or some other appropriate Hawaiian song) if their legislation gets passed.

I've been watching today's debate on the marriage equality bill in the Hawaii's House of Representatives (meh, it's a quiet Saturday afternoon, here). Talk about long and inane! They've rejected 29 new amendments from opponents, with countless recesses. But the final debate on the bill in the House has now just started.

Not long to go now. :)

^ Man, I wanna go to Hawaii. 8)

And, just now, the House of Reps in Hawaii has finally (remind me never to watch another legislative debate  ) passed the bill 30–19 with 2 abstentions. The bill goes back to the senate where it's expected to be approved quickly, and then to the governor who has said he'll approve it. Nicely done, Hawaii.
